Any thoughts on this race my 2 would be
VENTURE CAPITAL 16/1 Won very nice on debut trainer has had winner of this race before.Am not saying this horse in same class as Dunguib but i do think he got a great chance.
POPULATION 16/1
Is best bumper horse with John Ferguson has done well with bumper horses looks a smart horse as well.
Any thoughts on this race.
December 19, 2011 at 18:08 #383283I’d been watching Dunguib all season and was convinced it was far better than any other horse that year. It’s RPR’s were simply off the charts as regards bumper horses. That and the belief it would improve for better ground.
I’ve seen nothing so far this season, although Morning Royalty was visually the most impressive. Itsalark in the summer looked good.
There are a few bumpers that Mullins targets in the new year and i shall wait for those.
December 22, 2011 at 00:54 #383634Did anyone see the debut of Grand Crus’s brother, Gevrey Chambertin at Ffos Las today? Excellent looking horse, only 3, good pedigree, could well be interesting
December 22, 2011 at 05:25 #383648The Irish own this race we just get to loan it now and again.
Gotta look across the Irish Sea of you want the winner.
December 23, 2011 at 23:14 #383902That half brother to Grands Crus looks a mighty fine specimen.
December 28, 2011 at 17:36 #384622Thus far I don’t think the bumper horses have looked that special either side of the sea so it might be worth looking at something from last year’s crop. Enter Royal Guardsman. Bolted up on his debut and such was his reputation was made one of the favourites for the Festival Novice Hurdles. Went off very short to take a decent bumper at Aintree on his seasonal debut and although beaten still travelled like the best horse in the race. Stable wasn’t firing at the time and I think there is a pretty good chance he is better than the bare form. ATR stable tour indicates he is going to run in another bumper so virtually no chance of him going over hurdles this season. An easy win and a fair chance he would be close to ante-post favourite. At 33/1 risk worth taking.
January 11, 2012 at 15:28 #386450Last night i was watching Nelson’s Bridge’s win at Bangor. One of the best domestic bumper performances i’ve seen this season, as they went a good gallop. Also interesting that JP has since bought the runner-up – they obviously think the winner is smart so deduce that the runner-up is, too.
At the moment i’m expecting this race to go to the Irish
January 12, 2012 at 00:01 #386519I know for a fact that they think the world of Champagne Fever. He was bet at odds on at Lep at Christmas, they smashed him that day and Patrick couldnt hold him.He won a point so he might need a test but most C.Bumpers are won by NH tpes who needa trip in time.Hes 20’s and I’d advise to get on now.
January 12, 2012 at 12:26 #386556Unless you have reliable information that a horse is going to be aimed at this race and that he has a decent chance of getting in then I would suggest keeping your powder dry.

I thought the horse had a dodgy head carriage and was eventually beaten pretty comfortably.
January 12, 2012 at 22:43 #386651I know i just tought he didnt settle,he’ll stay on up the hill when the others are tiring
January 15, 2012 at 01:15 #386933If Gevrey Chammbertin turns up, which I do expect him to, he’ll take the beating. 20/1 is amazing boys
January 22, 2012 at 17:08 #387819Well he settled today!!!He pissed in,was backed from 4/6 into 1/4 and won by 13L.Hes now into 8/1 fav hope people got on
January 22, 2012 at 17:44 #387825Mullins is clearly very keen to put that initial defeat down to immaturity. Personally, I think there is something badly wrong with that head carriage. The most interesting aspect of today’s victory was the fact they decided to make all. Was that because they didn’t want the horse to find himself drawn into a battle in a slowly run race? Take out the well-bred but unfancied second (who ran loose beforehand) and it looked a very mediocre race. He won easily enough but to my eyes forged clear rather than quickened impressively. I wouldn’t back him at 50/1.
January 22, 2012 at 17:48 #387826What you guys think of my horse VENTURE CAPITAL.Trainer won race a few years ago this horse beat Thomas Edison on debut who then beat the current fav the Mullins horse who is now new fav.
POPULATION my other fancy.
January 22, 2012 at 17:49 #387827^^Why would you not back him? They knew he’d stay why would they complicate thigs. He could only beat what was put out in front of him.
JP bought VC for telephone numbers I was told today.
January 22, 2012 at 19:29 #387836Because he is a ludicrous price based on the distinct possibility he could be a dodge pot and the fact that his form is nothing special. The horse who trounced him first time had already run over hurdles – someone made a mistake there if that is this season’s best bumper horse. He is priced up on the basis some people still believe Willie Mullins still wins the Festival Bumper every year. For the last few years he has only been a help to the bookmakers.
Is it really a great endorsement for any horse if JP steps in and pays a king’s ransom? The horse won well first time and form has some substance but he did have the run of the race.
