No market yet that I can see….

    https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/38/newmarket/2020-10-10/765796

As is usually the case there are loads of potential Irish Challengers who catch the eye, not least several from the Mullins yard, and of those Great White Shark, Kaatskill Nap, Dark Voyager are particularly interesting. Real headache if all of them trap.

Of equal interest are Dalton Highway, Princess Zoe, and Golden Spear. Of that trio, I could see Dalton Highway staying in Ireland, while Princess Zoe might open short enough considering her raised profile. Golden Spear probably the early one from that trio then, and I think he’s perfect for this, from a yard who target this.

Of the home challengers, the proper standout is Rock Eagle off 100. I suspect that he’s been held back for something, and his only run of the season, here in June, offered plenty of encouragement. He’d be very high on the shortlist right now.

I’d also be interested in both Scaramanga and Saglawy from the Nicholls yard. Saglawy a bit hit and miss, but certainly good enough, while Scaramanga screamed “Cesarewitch” here earlier in the year.

Can’t really put all three Mullins horses on the early shortlist, as he’s got so many in there, but the three mentioned top the pile from his squad. For now. That could obviously change.

If pushed, Golden Spear and Rock Eagle would be my two just now, but it’s early days. I’d be happy for no market for a while, but I’ll probably have an early go once a market’s formed.

    Early Shortlist
    Golden Spear
    Rock Eagle
    Scaramanga
    Saglawy

Hills have a market, and of those mentioned, Kaatskill Nap, Dark Voyager, and Golden Spear look standout prices at 25’s.

My long range fancy is Makawee who stayed on over 2 miles at York and looks to be crying out for an extended trip and a stiff finish. Not at William Hill’s initial odds though which are stingy across the board!

Agree with that Rob, good to see a market up now, but it is on the whole a bit stingy.

Jack, completely passed me by that one, that’s an interesting move. Must improve his chances of running here, but I’ll watch that one closely.

Be interested to see how Saglawy goes today in The Old Borough Cup.

A big looking 33’s today, but best priced 20’s for this.

Not great from Saglawy there, so he’s off the shortlist for now.

Yeah, both look serious players Darren. Dark Voyager entered in The Petingo next week, so that might give us a clue to how good he is.

I really like Coltraine and to say he’s progressive is an understatement. Three
on the trot and each one looks easier than the last. He’s gone up 22lbs in 2 months and
although this is 4f more than he’s gone before, he looked like he was just warming up
over 14f in the Melrose Handicap at York last time out. I can see a big gamble going on
him and I reckon that the 10/1 he is just now is as big as he’ll be. I’ve
taken the plunge this morning with betvictor, I think he has a big chance.

Indeed Sam. As the link you kindly provided me states, same jockey will claim and negate the penalty. She must take all the beating.

Talk from the stable was they were more likely to go for the Prix Du Cadran as more prizemoney than this race. might be worth a bit of caution anti-post. This might be out of date info, we all know how folk like to change their minds.

I like Buildmeupbuttercup here, and I’ve taken the 16-1.
