Tks for all yr replies – as Maxilon 5 says think that bookie hype has made the price too short and while i think he is the most likely winner there are too many ifs and buts to wade in at odds on – two and half minutes on Saturday will reveal all :)
May 31, 2007 at 22:13 #62731He’s a worthy favourite, but no certainty.
2.04 is too short for me to want to back him, but not so short that I’ll be laying.
So, if I have a bet, I’ll be looking at the rest of the field to find something that looks out of line.
More likely, I’ll just enjoy the spectacle and hope the winner turns out to be better than the last 4 winners.

June 1, 2007 at 01:01 #62732Frankie has already lost his cool over the upcoming Derby.<br>"If I get a clear run it will be up to me to win" I paraphrase him. When has anyone gotten a clear run ? It is up to him to give the horse a clear run.Nobody will give anybody a clear run in the derby. When did Frankie ever give a clear run to another jockey? If he gets a clear run it is up to the horse to win after that.<br>I expect Frankie to blow his cool and lose on Saturday
June 1, 2007 at 06:11 #62733In the Derby there are always one or two unexposed horses that will run better than expected and there are always doubts about a horse’s ability to handle Epsom’s undulations .I certainly wouldn’t oppose Authorized – at this point he looks out on his own from a handicapping standpoint –  but is he a certainty ? Not for me. Odds on shots have to have water-tight credentials for me to go steaming in.

For me, Frankie is a negative in this race. I’d fancy Authorised more with a different top jockey.
While, in sport, it’s good for a competitor to "want it", there’s a big difference between "wanting it" and feeling it’s the last chance saloon.
When someone – particularly if they’re the emotional type – thinks "if I don’t do it now, it’ll never happen for me", there’s a tendency to overcook it and make bad decisions.
So, I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes an arse of things on Saturday.

June 1, 2007 at 07:34 #62735Dettori won’t win, if there was a different jockey on Authorized I’d back him, I can see him blowing it. 2/1 for an Aiden O’Brien trained winner is a steal

<br>What a lot of old tosh!<br>Because Frankie has yet to ride a Derby winner, he can’t ride Epsom??? Psychological problems???<br>Apart from all the above being unfounded garbage, I could win on this one.;)
June 1, 2007 at 09:48 #62739He does eem a little bit wound up but the idea he cant ride epsom is just a little bit silly. Isnt the oaks run there? <br>
June 1, 2007 at 20:07 #62740Authorised may well hack up but i wont be backing him at such a short price.  My selection for the race is Lucarno. Impressive in his last two starts and could turn out to be a very good horse.
June 1, 2007 at 20:55 #62742If Frankies riding on Oaks day is anything to go by I wouldn’t be overly confident of Authorised winning…
June 1, 2007 at 20:58 #62744Have just read that Paddy Power are offering 11/4 on Authorised to finish 4th or worse. That is a bet and a half!

Current 1.44 to place creates a 96% book for the arbers among us.
June 1, 2007 at 21:19 #62749Paddy Power are offering your money back if your horse finishes ahead of Authorized and still loses!

I doubt I’ll have a bet in the race, just settle for Frankie winning my subscription back from RUK.:) <br>It’s interesting to note that the horse he thrashed at York, Raincoat, is still considered promising enough by John Gosden to run in Sunday’s French Derby. Might even be favourite by Saturday evening, too.;)
