Forget Gangstas Paradies, that was a load of tripe and all rap music is dreadful anyway.
This is a much better track

Some right dodgy singles in that Top40 with the likes of Robson & Jerome and Outhere Brothers really reminding me that nostalgia is not all it’s cracked up to be!
January 6, 2009 at 02:27 #201853Aye, DB – not without reason did my list contain precisely none of those!
(That said, I’d entirely tolerate the Bjork track in that list, although my prefered track from the Post album would be the pulsing non-single “Enjoy”).

January 6, 2009 at 22:06 #201986Tina Malone – uncouth, vulgar, the like of which I’ve rarely heard in a woman….
but I love her to bits!!!!!!!!!!!!….she can come and sort out my neighbours any time she likes…
any other fans?
January 7, 2009 at 01:28 #202037UM, I can’t decide at the moment and am going to wait for a few more days.
I fear she may turnout to be quite a divisive unpleasant sort of character – but I hope I’m wrong.
January 7, 2009 at 01:43 #202041I watched it as I’m interested to see how Tommy Sheridan behaves.
As for Tina Malone, who plays the loud mouthed hardcase, Mimi McGuire in Ch4’s Shameless –
I had to laugh when she said she was nothing like her character in the show. Well she could have fooled me. If anything, she’s worse – and yes, she did look like Shrek’s wife, Fiona, in that Juliet costume.

January 7, 2009 at 03:47 #202090Tommy hasn’t shown us much so far, apart from those surprisingly hairy legs!..oh my goodness..lol.. but he seems nice enough – I hope to see him blow his top.
Just watched an excellent documentary on BBC2 about Motown, or Tamla Motown as I knew it from the 60’s. Now this is the stuff I was brought up with and love, of African-American origins, and why I simply cannot appreciate this Rapping of Coolio’s, it’s just meaningless drivel to my ears.
Great songwriters of the time Holland-Dozier-Holland I remember, as their names seemed to be on everything I bought, along with Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound.
Any other Motown appreciators here?.. It was great till the Jackson 5 came on the scene and we got Michael’s squeaky voice. I must say some of his brothers just interviewed all seemed quite normal, – and nice

One here for sure, and the H-D-H compositions are firm favourites too. ’60s/70s ‘soul’ generally has a timeless quality IMO.
I have a particular soft spot for ‘Northern Soul’
Dunno if you’re a convert to the excellent BBC iPlayer but if so you may like to give these a spin:
Radio Humberside: The Real Music Show
Radio Sheffield: Northern Soul and Motown
Radio Stoke: Northern SoulJanuary 7, 2009 at 17:12 #202196No I don’t have the iPlayer as yet, but thank you Drone
January 8, 2009 at 03:37 #202426Any other Motown appreciators here?
One of very few musical genres that leaves me utterly cold, I’m afraid, along with gospel and most of what would now be termed as R&B.
Oh yeah, and anything touched by the fetid hand of Dion and Carey.

January 8, 2009 at 04:31 #202447Same here, dont really get Motown but i wont turn the radio off if a Motown song gets played.
Regarding CBB why on earth did King Terry not get Lucy and Michelle to bathe him, im sure i would as it could have been fun.
Verne is now becoming the new face for Shopmobility and Tina is just about getting an edge over Mutya in the ugly stakes.
January 11, 2009 at 05:47 #9916If this is OK with Corm and there is any interest. I thought it might be a bit of fun for us CBB fans to have a little Nominations Competition. The aim of the comp is to successfully predict who each housemate will choose in the up-coming round of nominations.
Rules
# Predict the two people* you believe each Housemate will nominate for eviction in the up-coming round of nominations.
# One correct nomination per Housemate = 1 point
# Two correct nominations per Housemate = 3 points
# You may Nap one housemate’s nominations and if both nominations are correctly predicted = 5 pointsFirst Prize
Russell Brand’s autobiography ‘My Booky Wook’Hope all that makes sense.
* In the event of Big Brother only wanting one nomination the first named shall be used and the Nap shall = 3 points

Charles Darwin to conquer the World
January 13, 2009 at 04:04 #203572Looks like me you are the only real men on the forum – who admit to watching it

First Prize is now a choice between Booky Wook & Mick Fitz’s Better Than Sex.
And if no one else enters you get both Nathan.
January 13, 2009 at 04:16 #203573Committed a cardinal sin tonight. Just mentioned to the missus how Michelle reminds me of her when we first met (which is true).
The look on her face…I should have just been straight and told her how much Tina reminds me of her now.
