Hi, did anyone see the post race interview between jamie spencer and mike cattermole?…….is it me, or was there a distinct ‘frostiness’ from spencer?…. does anyone know why? don’t know where i heard it, but are mike cattermole and emma spencer an item?
October 23, 2010 at 15:27 #324088Spencer to me never comes over as pleasant, he’s alwasys a bit offish. Tommo fawning all over Lee Westwood was a bit OTT before, I think Lee was superb though
October 23, 2010 at 15:39 #324090I was quick to note Spencer’s distinct lack of enthusiasm towards Cattermole’s questions.
Maybe Jamie thinks ( or has heard ) there is something going on between Mr C and his estranged wife…
0r maybe Mr Spencer just doesn’t do personality

Or maybe he just thinks Cattermole is a bit too smug for his own good.
If so, I’d tend to agree with him.

Agreed, nor does his wife

Agreed.
October 24, 2010 at 10:17 #324221Agreed, also.
I have hardly watched any "Channel: 4" racing this "flat season" due to the presenter.
Rather, just listen on "Timeform Radio".

Perfection.October 24, 2010 at 13:21 #324267Agreed, also.

Why listen to Timeform Radio at all if you have pictures/video feed for the races?
Much of the analysis given by the pesenters on Ch4/RUK or otherwise is stuff anybody with working eyesight can see anyway. Personally I find the coverage by Gary O’Brien on ATR, or RTE racing far easier viewing.
Sorry to go off topic from the original post btw.
I have just had a MASSIVE argument with somebody about whether The Cat was dating ES or notOctober 24, 2010 at 18:44 #324329Mr Spencer always comes across like another member of the jockey’s ratpack….with Ryan Moore,Kieron, and the daddy of humour….Lester ! Who else should be in this extrovert?introvert club ? Rather listen to the Cat than the vile and vulgar Big Mac !
October 24, 2010 at 21:15 #324363I felt a bit sorry for Lee Westwood yesterday, he was clearly just getting the mike thrown in his face… Thommo hounding him was embarrassing.
I was flicking between Ch.4 and ATR at the time and ATR were also drooling over him – Simon Mytabletop also spoke to him at least twice in 10 or 15 minutes.
Ok, he’s a high profile owner but he’s no different to any other owner – ask for his opinions (pre-race) and congratulate him (after the race) but for crying out loud don’t stlak the guy.

I would too if it wasn’t for that Rory character. Or that Smithy character for that matter.
October 24, 2010 at 22:10 #324374I can’t see Emma bothering with Catt – he’s an old man – she must have blokes queueing up.

October 24, 2010 at 22:28 #324376Bit worried about this cattermole fella, I’m gonna have a word with her later.

Back on subject before I go of it again, could Spencer be the way he is because everyone and their uncle slags him off at every opportunity?
His style of riding often has people critising him and a lot of the time unfairly. He can make a horse look as if he is going much better than he actually is. Something Paul Carberry often does over the jumps and you wonder how they could be going so well and get beat.
No doubt he can read and hear and he’ll know when he’s done badly but will also know better than anyone when someone sitting in a studio or writing in rag is way out of order.
As far as Chanel 4 is concerend I cant watch it. Their website is anon event and looks like it takes about 2 minutes a day to write. You used to be able to watch replays but they sold out to the racing post and now they charge for something you can get elsewhere for free.
Chanel 4 are not International friendly either as you can get ziltch of there site outside the UK.
I like Thommo always had. He’s over the top for sure but at least he doesn’t rant on about 10 other horses out the back and you have no idea what’s happening at the busniess end of the race like some I won’t mention as he gets huffy if I bring up his name.
Someone said why listen to Timeform Radio???
I started using Timeform Radio quite some time ago. I was having the odd problem connecting to live video streams, got a bit assed one day and tuned into Sporting Life Radio which isn’t great but ok. Looking for an alternative I found Timeform Radio.
I can watch live if I want to at the same time but I hardly miss a show. The charachters and the knowledge is second to noneIMO
Alex Steedman, Alan Dudman and Paul Jacobs are all 1st class in their roles.
Terry Norman eats and sleeps racing and doesn’t mix his words. If something is a monkey he comes out and says so no messing. His knowledge seems endless and very often he’ll point out something obvious I’ve totally missed.
Tery Norrman and Paul Jacobs are great crack together each giving as good asthey get. They have me doubled up in laughter at times and are excellent entertainment.
Rory Delargy despite his tender years probably has done more research into racing than anyone I have ever come across. Can’t stand how he says dowes instead of dus (does)like a true Scotsman though:lol: but I’m sure he could tell you what finsihed 3 rd in the 2.30 at Newmarket on a Tuesday 20 years ago.
It doesn’t end there some number of horses he digs out that you wouldn’t think about backing is uncanny at times.
Jeremy Grayson is also very knowlegable especially about horses who have come into the NH scene that have run in ptp or are bred the rught way. Again it doesn’t stop there his selections overall are never far away and he often comes up with reasons why not to bet horses who run like pigs that I may have backed otherwise. Without doubt the man to follow round the gaff tracks.
My only critisim is when Jeremy and Gina Bryce are on it’s not a good mix. She would put an insomniac to sleep and jeremy is a quite guy so the show lacks the normal oomph associated with it. Both are good but much better those two are kept apart..Terry would sort her out although I’m not sure she’d want to be left alone with him

Dan Barber..I don’t know who this guy is but he’s unbeliveable. Sound very young but is a brilliant judge and talks a lot of sense plus plus. Really look forward to him being on the show.
Graham Cunningham is another man who talks sense and always worth listening to.
I could go on and on but won’t
Sorta silly question IMO Best horse racing show on the planet.
PS plenty bloggs at Timeform radio if anyone wants to listen to a few snippets of them doing their thing.
October 25, 2010 at 06:36 #324389Gina Bryce isn’t boring? She’s interesting, comes across really well.
Stunning aswell.
