Doesn’t look promising for Royal backers as Carlton House really drifting on Betfair and Pour Moi now vying for favouritism

Does seem like he will not run.

At around 2:00pm to 2:15pm Carlton House was around 100/30 when I got out of my bet.

    Out to 4/1 now.

Will be a sad loss to the race if he does not get there.

With Coolmore having the first 3 in the betting after Carlton House, hope they don’t pull one of theirs out too.

The game is up now IMHO. Out to 5.4….no money for it. The canter will just confirm he cant run i would imagine.

Pour Moi fav now and CH 2nd fav with Recital closing in on that berth too.

It’d be a great occasion if he wins, and special if he just runs. Let’s hope he makes it.

Then I guess this years Derby has been turned into a ‘no-race’ IMO. The other runners are much of a muchness really, poor contest without the Queen’s runner.

Master of Hounds should’ve run in this rather than the Belmont the week after. Will probably be an easier race.

I keep hearing about Master of Hounds. He was beaten by Roderic, Casamento, Seville and Dunboyne Express last season. Just because he ran a decent race in the KY doesn’t mean he’s instantly going to reverse several formlines.

He has better credentials than several others in the Derby. Better than the maiden, at least.

I think CH will run. If he doesn’t run his stud value will be severely diminished. Furthermore he is the Queen’s last hope of the big one. The injury appears to be minor and not causing any distress so I reckon they will give it a whirl.

However, even with a run, his odds should be slightly higher because of the injury and arguably his price was overcooked to start with so perhaps he should go off at 3-1.

Therefore the Betfair price of about 4-1 suggests he is odds on to run.

Back to favourite this morning. You can back it at a shade over 7/2.

It is getting tricky now – if he does run and for any reason the injury is aggravated during the race, or if he is pulled-up, then following on from the Grand National the non-racing media would have a field day.

You can see the headline now "Queen Puts Derby Glory Before Horse Welfare"

So they are going to have to be 100% if they are going to allow him to run.

He has, apparently, done 4f at half-speed this morning.

What a great shame if he is unfit to race.

I’m certainly no royalist, Vive Le Republique as far as I’m concerned but the Queen (as a citizen) is a wonderful woman and what a delight it would be to see here win the Derby.

I think Miss W is only worried that Master Of Hounds will win at Belmont and make the US 3yo’s look very ordinary indeed.

    Only kidding.

Carlton House pulling up injured or breaking down during the Derby would make for a media field day. I hope the PR people are ready. RfC will be renamed SRA. I’ll let you figure that one out. :D

Very difficult decision for them, a horse certainly needs sound front legs at Epsom.
