Very strange that coolmore have sold capulet to hong kong. Was looking forward to see him progress.Looked to be improving and could well have turned into a group one horse and being by justify would have been a decent stud prospect. Only reason I can see is he’s a difficult ride and Ryan made it look easy at chester. Presumably a top fee paid.
Looked a very straight-forward ride at Chester, just point and go.
Capulet is pretty small, so although I could see him making a bit more improvement, very much doubt he’d make up into a Group 1 horse.Doe this mean he’ll miss Royal Ascot and the Irish Derby?
Value Is EverythingSurely no Royal Ascot nor Irish Derby for him as he’s probably in quarantine stables and waiting for flight to HK.
His new owner is Peter Lau, also the owner of Romantic Warrior who just won 5 Group 1s in a row (including Cox Plate last October and Yasuda Kinen last Sunday). Capulet would have a new name as Romantic XXX and be targeted for HK Derby.
Also, it is rumoured that another 3yo from Coolmore has been bought by another HK owner.
If Coolmore don’t think he will be a Group 1 colt and a stallion prospect, it makes good business sense to sell if they are offered silly money.
As a rather small horse he’ll be suited by the tight tracks over there. Sha Tin and Happy Valley could suit as good as Chester did.
Plus you’re adding the Justify bloodline to that jurisdiction, though I doubt he’ll keep his testicles.Sha Tin big roomy galloping track , plenty time to wind up from back as Massive Sovereign did this year, or Pakustan Star used to when not pulling himself up , they be all over Coolmores surplas horses after MS win this year .
Some good ones keep testicles , MS has survived the scissors so far , couple at stud in NZ and OZ ex HK at moment .
