It’s a Group 1 Anglo Arab race as opposed to a thoroughbred race, and was won by the favourite Al Dahma, ridden by Anglo Arab specialist David Bouland.

I once backed a horse in an Anglo Arab race, but as the race didn’t appear in the Racing Post the following day, the bookmakers termed the bet as void and refunded me my stake.

June 1, 2009 at 00:33 #231333It was a pure bred arabian race. The winner, probably one of the best arabian mares in training. It’s pretty big business in France.

I was at Hamburg for Derby Day 2007 when Al Dahma won the Qatar Cup, the richest Anglo Arab race in Germany. To be honest, I was really concentrating on the Derby itself, but Al Dahma looked real quality in what was really soft ground (the norm in Hamburg to be honest!), She easily beat the Dutch bred Robbie, probably the best Anglo Arab in Germany.

June 1, 2009 at 02:07 #231343Yes, I think Robbie stands at stud now. The best son of Makzan I believe.
Al Dahma will I’m sure, contest the Group 1 races in France and here in the UK over the summer. There is some serious money to be won at the Arc meeting.June 1, 2009 at 02:25 #231349Rather than starting a new thread, might as well put it here.
Does anybody have a DVD recording of the BBC Arc coverage from last year? Would love to make my own copy and of course will send a few quid as a thank you.
