For earliest sponsor you can remember of Saturday’s big 3m Handicap Chase at Kempton Park?
I expect APRacing will have an answer.

They were definitely the first so far as I know, starting in 1973. Prior to that the race was known as the Coventry Pattern Chase, which seems an odd name for a race at Kempton. Perhaps nobody was allowed to talk about it!
Yellow Pages must have wondered why they bothered for the the first two runnings, as only three ran in 1973 and 1974. Pendil won both, at 1/7 and then 1/6. They also sponsored the 4-y-old hurdle race we now know as the Adonis.
The Tote replaced them from 1979 – 1982, no sponsor in 1983, then Mercedes Benz took over in 1984. 1985 and 1986 were beaten by frost and it became the Racing Post Chase in 1987.

February 22, 2022 at 11:04 #1584286Tbf, with me, that was always a possibility!
