It may be I am missing something as I am abroad at the moment but I see he was withdrawn from today’s race because of the ground. He was withdrawn this morning but gallops after racing at the Curragh today meaning he never even made the trip. Would they normally travel to France on the day or was he never really going? I wonder if we will see this horse on a racetrack again.

It is quite telling that since his defeat at Ascot, we have heard nothing from connections. Hype has all but disappeared. Instead the hype has been placed elsewhere. The best 2 yr old ever they say ….

I’d be suprised if we saw him race again, outside of possibly the Arc. He obviously doesn’t have a hope of hell in winning the Arc.

Ballydoyle are a great racing outfit in all respects. O’Brien is clearly an exceptional trainer. It’s just a shame they all have an anus for a mouth.

And then there’s Godawful, who can’t breed the horses they should be able to, despite truck loads of drugs on their property ( which the BHA tell us – despite the lack of any investigation – aren’t intended for use at their stud farm )

It’ll soon be Chepstow in October ( the unofficial start to the jumps season in my opinion )

Like you Joni, I backed Camelot today. Been one of his fiercest critics over the years (probably because of all the hype). But had (imo) a better chance than betting suggested in the Foy. Press and punters may well have gone too far in rubbishing the horse now.

In an interview after Leading Light had won yesterday – O’Brien said they’d walk the course and if it was too soft would not run. I was a bit surprised, as the 2000 Guineas was on similar ground.

However, connections possibly reminded of the unimpressive soft ground Irish Derby win. Where (for the first time imo) Camelot did not seem to enjoy racing.

Coolmore possibly took Camelot out today because they did not want to sour him again. Or may be they saw Orfevre and did not want the hype horse beaten 5 lengths. Although I do wonder if Camelot is best fresh these days (less sour) so keeping him for the Arc. Only entering today in case Orfevre did not turn up (chance of winning a soft Group 1).

Though how they are now working him after racing in Ireland, …. knows!
