Seeing the race times for Cheltenham on Friday I notice that Channel 4 aren’t showing the Cross Country race – hooray!! It might be exciting to people on course but I personally find these races boring and assume the bookies think so too as they never seem to attract much money and has no place at the festival in March.
December 7, 2015 at 20:39 #1224982I think you will find they are.
December 7, 2015 at 21:14 #1224986Then the Sporting Life website has got it wrong
December 7, 2015 at 21:18 #1224987The off-time for the race is 2:20. C4 coverage begins at 12:45 and ends at 3:10.
The above off-time is taken from the RP website.
However, attheraces says the CC is off at 3:15.
December 7, 2015 at 22:12 #1225001I must be a bit weird, I quite like watching them
….. and I always have a betDecember 7, 2015 at 23:26 #1225007Marginally more interesting than a national hunt flat race and can be quite amusing when the jockeys lose their bearings and take out the odd photographer.

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.

December 7, 2015 at 23:49 #1225009Must say: it’s fun – and the irony! irony! – to read the king of neg correspondent Phil Walker (capitalized) welcoming something that never was, instead of sneering at something that actually was
December 8, 2015 at 00:52 #1225011One of my favourite races. Seldom watched one that hasn’t ended in high drama and a pulsating finish
December 8, 2015 at 02:12 #1225036Is Garde Champetre running.?
Not down to run Nathan
December 8, 2015 at 08:22 #1225041Obviously as being negative is not allowed on this forum I’ll add to the number of people who won’t bother to post anymore, no wonder this place is dying on its feet
December 8, 2015 at 13:34 #1225046I don’t mind being negative………I find the CC races incredibly dull, mickey mouse affairs and can’t be bothered watching them
I mean, it’s showjumping innit !…….and no one watches that these days
These CC races belong in the 1970s with Jeux Sans Frontiers and It’s a Knockout
If Stuart Hall wasn’t banged up in Pokey I’d get him on the C4 team to present them
December 8, 2015 at 13:50 #1225050Obviously as being negative is not allowed on this forum I’ll add to the number of people who won’t bother to post anymore, no wonder this place is dying on its feet

Hi Phil, I disagreed with you, in that I quite like the cross country
race at the festival. There’s absolutely no problem with you not liking the cross country, and
stating your case. Please don’t stop posting because I, and some others,
have a different opinion. My opinion is no more right or wrong than yours,
we just like different things. Your opinion was just as valid as mine or
anyone else on the forum. It would be a pretty bloody boring forum if we all agreed on every topic.
Please continue voicing your opinion
December 8, 2015 at 13:52 #1225052I have never bothered with them, I still consider them to be a gimmick.

Looks like one or the other’s racecard is totally wrong, it’s not only the cross country that’s down at the wrong time. The entire racecard is. Racing Post says racing starts at noon, AttheRaces at 12.30pm.
I enjoy watching the cross country at Cheltenham, not the Irish version so much but still enjoyable and different from the steeplechases. What I can’t understand is most of you thinking flat racing is interesting.

December 8, 2015 at 14:33 #1225058At the Races is wrong. Cheltenham’s website gives a noon start for the races.
