Understandably, Desert Crown is the star attraction here, but I love Hukum, so he will be my bet.

I haven’t bet him yet as I’m hoping to get just a little bit better than 3-1

I’d be pretty dissapointed if desert crown wasn’t too quick for Hukum over 1m2f

Should be an interesting and informative race

Hukum won’t run if it’s too quick.

Cash could be the one to offer some challenge (relatively speaking) – beaten less than 1L by Lockinge runner up Chindit on his seasonal debut and was a short head behind Westover over course and distance in last season’s Classic Trial.

I’m sure the journalists would love him to win so they can produce a cash is king headline

Desert Crown won The Derby in tremendous style, but realistically how good a renewal was it last year?

Throw in the fact he’s never competed in an all-aged contest, let alone one at level weights, which he will here as he’s now four, plus it’s first time out and he’s an odds-on favourite with questions to answer for me.

Hukum is a Coronation Cup winner and, although 1m2f here isn’t ideal, he’s a full brother to Baaeed and he’s never looked short of pace to me.

If Hukum has plenty of use made of his stamina, Desert Crown could have a job on to get past him.

One assumes Solid Stone is there to be somewhat of a pacemaker (albeit a G2 winning one) so Hukum is unlikely to have to do his own donkey work but he may have to kick on pretty early up the straight but (like Desert Crown) being his first run for the thick end of a year they may not want to be riding him quite like that with bigger targets upcoming.

    Chichester 33-1 e/w.

Has race fitness on his side and will be ridden to pick up the pieces. With both the big two unlikely to be 100% for this, looks too big a price.

Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest – it’s that sort of race this year.

Jumped on Cash on the without market at 9/4. LD73 said all you need to know.

I’ve had to go in again at 100s.

Same OR as Cash. Same RPR as Cash. Higher Topspeed than Cash. Won’t be ridden with delusions of winning the race.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Claymore outrun his odds – currently 40 at Betfair Exchange.

Chichester is currently 140 on the machine for those moral fibre-rich win only punters.

Gladders’s multiple greats grand father: “I’ve never used electricity – never have, never will – what’s wrong with candles, or the dark?”

Gladders’s even more multiple greats grand father: “I’ll never lived in a manmade dwelling – never have, never will – what’s wrong with caves?”

Gladders is travelling to Sandown Park on his antique penny farthing tonight.

It looks valuable so, if he’s forgotten his bike lock, I’m planning to nick it after racing, tbh.

Had an ew tickle for the Prince of Wales’ at 66s too.

The question is have they got him here ( dc) ready to do himself justice?
I’ve read the head lad say “we’ll know where we are after today.” I’d think therefore he’d need the run with the season ahead of him.
A race to watch but I do think Hukum can exploit any rustiness.
Even more interesting was what the yard had to say about bay bridge and nostrum.
