    Winning on scrag end Class 5 performers can arguably be tougher than winning Graded races. Brian Hughes has batted it out of the park this year, but no surprise to northern racegoers who have seen him doing the ‘hard yards’ over the years.

    Reaction of weighing room colleagues at Perth says a lot.

    I agree Rob, it was great to see the jockeys and valet out to greet him in and plenty of racegoers made their way to the winners enclosure as well.

    The jockeys won’t have been tucking into that cake yesterday.

    It was chocolate and stout!!

    Couldn’t agree more Rob.
    There are those that sit on class horses in big races week after week and then Brian Hughes is traveling all over. Pushing and
    shoving one over the line in low grade races. The owners
    of such animals must love him. It also gives the race
    goers the chance to see a very good jump jockey performing
    at what some might call lesser courses.
