I’m looking to do some research into breeding. Specifically I want to look at each dam’s progeny dam by dam. At the moment I can do this to a certain extent with Raceform Interactive, but I am largely limited to horses that have been campaigned in the UK&Ire since 2000. Obviously this won’t give a complete record for each dam.
Does anyone know if there’s anything more comprehensive out there?

February 6, 2009 at 23:15 #208542Unless you are happy to pay, it will be hard to get a complete and international picture for every dam – information gathering costs money.
The best databases are the official ones – Weatherbys, US Jockey Club, France Galop and the Direktorium.
However, if you know an animal has gone through one of the major sales, you will be able to access a copy of its pedigree on the sales company websites, which may give you a fuller picture than just the RP and Pedigree Query.
February 6, 2009 at 23:36 #208549If you register with the National Equine Database, which currently has a "£1 for three months offer" (and it’s a one-off Paypal payment so you’re not setting up anything long-standing), you can get a lot of information about offspring which you can then cross-reference with performance from racing-specific sites. The pedigree data is uploaded directly from Wetherbys.
It states there is a ‘fair usage’ limit on TB information, but I’ve spent literally hours on there and never had any problems (saddo that I am).
