Thought I’d stick a thread up
There was a very big downpour apparently yesterday, not sure that will help the majority of Europeans or not.
Will be interesting to see how the track rides tonight, Roaring Lion will not appreciate any slop.
He’s the only one I’ve backed so far Ante Post

Had 2 bets tonight. Scrambled some American racing replays in this week, but I’m still utterly clueless.

    Strike Silver – 7:21 WIN @ 11/1

Really caught the eye last time, have no idea about the merit of the form.

    Belle Laura – 8:00 E/W @ 100/1

Another who caught the eye last time.

Not sure why I haven’t focused on the Europeans, whom I am more knowledgeable about. Oh well, here goes.

Urghh!! Was on Soldiers Call there, his fate was sealed as soon as the gates opened. Ground looks very soft.

Yeah, tricky at the best of times but the going doesn’t help things.
A small bet on Just Wonderful at 8’s in the next. Totally different track but she did get the mile at the Curragh on good to yielding. Hoping she can sit back mid and pick them off late if they go too fast too soon

Small stakes for me too, couldn’t resist 20/1 on The Mackem Bullet, she has solid form at 6f, if she gets the trip she may place. The fave looks solid here.

Have backed Anthony Van Dyk for the Derby, so taken a chance on the draw with 7/2 for tonight’s race, with a saver on Line of Duty 100/30.

Just a few little bets for me tonight.

I think Rainbow Heir (25/1) e/w is a bit overpriced in the Turf Sprint. He’s consistent and was impressive in winning the Gulfstream Turf Sprint two starts ago.

I also like Seeking The Soul (15/2) in the Dirt Mile. He won a Grade 1 over 9 furlongs at the course last year.

In the Filly & Mare Turf Mom’s On Strike (66/1) e/w never runs a bad race and is just now finding herself. And she gets blinkers on after make a big move at Kentucky Downs only to get nailed at the line. Three starts back she rallied from 28 lengths back to get beat two lengths by Fourstar Crook in the grade 2 New York Stakes at Belmont and easily won the grade 3 Bewitch Stakes at Keeneland the race before that. She is two-for-two on soft ground and has a win and a second in her two starts at Churchill Downs.

I think Oscar Performance (11/2) will win the Mile easily. He’ll go from the front and none of the Europeans will get close to him.

Wonder Gadot (25/1) e/w looks value in the Distaff given she was just denied in the Kentucky Oaks over C&D.

Hi Happy (100/1) and Channel Maker (16/1) look fancy e/w punts against Enable in the Turf.

And lastly in the Classic I’m going to back Yoshida (12/1) to win and Pavel (50/1) e/w.

Lot of front runners won yesterday suggesting ground very testing, I like Oscar Performance also…Enable the star attraction but no bet for me, think it will be tough for her in these kind of conditions.

Had a good night last night, picked out Bulletin in the first, followed by Newspaperofrecord, JayWalk and Line Of Duty. However was a tad disappointed with Serengeti Empress and Complexity. The Ortiz brothers must be two of the most corrupt figures in racing, Amercian racing at least. Jose Ortiz’s ride on Complexity was absolutely baffling, got him cruising at the front, completely uncontested as in his last race and then comes into the home straight and barely moves a muscle, couple of flicks of the reigns and then he just dropped him back. Usually he or Irad do this and the other brother wins the race and while that wasn’t the case last night its becoming farcical now.

    Anyway on to tonight.

Race 1: Marleys Freedom sets the standard but she was cosily beaten by Selcourt, I think Marleys Freedom can reverse that here despite a wide draw but the one I’m taking is Mia Mischief at the bigger price, impressive overt C&D earlier this season.

Race 2: I cant have Disco Partner on the ground, if it hadn’t rained I’d be all over this horse but not now, theres a few I like here, Bucchero back on home turf could run a race, Chanteline is poised for a good run, Lost Treasure has the talent but HATES being in front and I landed with World Of Trouble, racing against the older horses here but impressed me last time on similar ground to what he’ll find here.

Race 3: Catalina Cruiser is the form horse, unbeaten in all starts so far, but I like City Of Light here, who soundly beat Classic favourite Accelerate earlier in the season.

Race 4: If Sistercharlie goes on the ground her turn of foot will be too much for these, improved since moving to Chad Brown I think she’s the one to beat here, Wild Illusion over the distance is a question mark for me, Eziyra is the interesting one and I also like Fourstar Crook, the other Brown filly.

Race 5: Roy H for me here, his run at Santa Anita last time will have set him up nicely and he was impressive there, Limousine Liberal is incredible at this track so rates an e/w chance.

Race 6: Oscar Performance is interesting but blew out here(I think) a couple of starts ago. Expert Eye looks good enough for me and I’ll take Analyze It e/w.

Race 7: If Abel Tasman is anywhere near her best of two starts ago, she beats these easy, if the Abel Tasman of her last run shows up then its goodnight. Monomoy Girl has been very good this year but I think Midnight Bisou could beat her here.

Race 8: Enable is the obvious one but I’ll have Robert Bruce e/w at a price however the ground is a possible issue.

Race 9: Catholic Boy, Mendelssohn, Yoshida and Pavel interest me in the finale, Yoshida the most. I think this is one where you need a closer and his victory over Gunnevera last time was very good, he can come late and slog it out and battle. McKinzie could well be the one that could win it on class alone, rather than being a grinder.
