Skybet 2/1 for 6 or more lengths is more than reasonable. I won’t be going too heavy on that as my enjoyment of the race will be dulled by a 5 and 3/4 length win. Best price of the day I reckon though.

What can go wrong here for flightline?

He can’t handle the quick nine-week turnaround.

Yeah, I’m a Flightline doubter. I think if a win in the BC Classic is his final start it’s fair to ask
    a) how much better or worse would he have ran given even Ghostzapper’s race schedule, let alone Secretariat’s schedule
    b) how much better or worse would his contemporaries be running if they were limited to three starts in a year
    c) how would he have fared when asked to carry weight even remotely close to his actual handicap.

Will Hill 6/1 for 8 lengths or more up until 6pm. £10 max bet. Doesn’t matter now anyway, Breeders cup just peaked with Cody’s Wish. Incredible.

Best of luck everyone, let’s hope we see something impressive, I’ll be watching it on delay at about 10pm after I get back from a couple of drinks; this race could be too special to watch on my tiny iPhone 6!

I’m on Team Chaos, let the wind bring in a closer to steal the glory from the prematurely-crowned prince.

How bad is the wind? Is it really affecting things? I was away last night so haven’t been able to watch anything other than the last race

Wind advisory from 8am to 8pm today. Strong enough to be shaking several of the NBC cameras, making a few horses act antsy. Local Lexington weather showing winds at 20mph gusting to 30.

Trust me miss Woodford, it wasn’t a rhetorical question. I really wanted to know, given the good impression created, and you’ve put forward those answers, much appreciated. My money is already down and I’m hoping against hope he can battle through those handicaps and deliver a stunning performance again. Up against it, but a mark of an exceptional horse is one that can handle adversity.

    That shouldn’t be possible

You should not be able to sit that close to such a strong pace and still win

I think that’s the best horse iv ever seen

Different class. He’s won that without coming out of second gear.

Better than Frankel. There, I said it.

Look at Secretariat’s past performances, look at Man O’War, look at Kelso and Forego and Seattle Slew and Spectacular Bid, then look at Flightline’s. That’s all I can say. I wish they’d run him next year, put him in some real handicaps, give him a real season of racing rather than sitting in the barn.

In almost 50 years watching racing I never saw anything quite like that – and I saw Frankel race three times in the flesh.

That was a suicidal pace – look where a really good past Breeders’ Cup Mile on dirt winner Life Is Good has finished – yet Flightline just breezed by him and effortlessly drew ever further clear.

As great a dirt horse I ever saw in my life, Secretariat included.

Wish they hadn’t zoomed in quite so much on him close home, I wanted to see how far clear he was.

Can’t get my head around that Ian

Those fractions were stupidly fast, he shouldn’t have won that being pushed so hard

    A complete freak of nature

    I completely agree.

I never thought I’d see the greatest racehorse in history in my lifetime.

    Until Frankel.

And I certainly never thought I’d ever see anything even more impressive than Frankel.

    Until FLIGHTLINE.

The acronym “GOAT” has become vastly overused in the modern world.

    But not tonight.
