Can’t really lump on but 8/13 is the fairest price you could ever see for Flightline, should be 1/3! Can’t wait to watch this one when it happens, greatest flat horse on earth and probably the best flat US horse since Secretariat!
October 23, 2022 at 12:40 #1619731The best thing I can say about Flightline’s sensational 19-and-a-quarter-length victory in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar is that it prompted the RPR to do this: 120, 124, 123, 102, 115* – the 102 being the figure they decided Dubai World Cup winner Country Grammar (whose RPRs this year those numbers are) must have run to.
*He’s since finished runner up a length and-three-quarter runner to hitherto RPR 118 Defunded at Santa Anita, which would have Country Grammar running to 115.
If you decide Country Grammar actually ran to 115 (still 9lb below his best) against Flightline you have to rate the latter not 140, but an eye-watering 153 – decide he ran to his peak figure of 124 and it’s 162!
All way off the scale.
It’s only one performance, but it looked an incredible one and it evokes memories of Secretariat in the Belmont Stakes.
I wouldn’t back any horse ante-post at 8/13, but I’m certainly looking forward to seeing Flightline in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 23, 2022 at 18:05 #1619789I agree Ian, I feel like they rated Country Grammar lower than they should have that day because they simply coudn’t imagine a horse ran to the level that Fligtline actually did. It’s not like it was a one-off fluke result either, Flighline has looked an absolute machine in all 5 of his career starts. I’ll have my popcorn ready!
October 23, 2022 at 18:09 #1619791If Flightline never runs – and Country Grammar is left to win by the margin he would have – no way do they rate Country Grammar 102 for it.
They’ve got the third and fourth running below form too.
Highly unlikely.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"October 23, 2022 at 18:12 #1619792Couldn’t agree more, he’s a freak, 8/13 will look a joke of a price when he passes the winning post 10 lengths clear of the rest.
October 23, 2022 at 18:17 #1619794Going on from that, as you’re saying Ian if you actually look at all the evidence critically, it’s actually more likely that Flightline ran to a level above 150, it’s only human doubt that has gotten him a rating substantially lower.
October 23, 2022 at 18:29 #1619798Agree with Chezza’s reasoning above; there’s no way Country Grammar would have been awarded an RPR of just 102 had he won the Pacific Classic in Flightline’s absence.
The winner’s performance joins Apple’s Jade in the juvenile hurdle at Aintree and Harbinger’s King George in being vastly underrated so as not to go into the “off the scale” category.
As far as the BC Classic is concerned, there’s no such thing in racing as a certainty. But Flightline is as close to a certainty as you’re ever going to see.

Will be putting him in all bets up until race timeBlackbeard to conquer the World
October 23, 2022 at 19:59 #1619809I will be having bets on the Breeders’ Cup as usual.
This year I might back all the ones I fancy on their own and then separately in doubles with Flightline, just to end the evening with a bang, a bit like having that extra chocolate hob nob with my coffee.
Of course, I need some of the other bets to actually win to get a whole pack of them running onto him.

October 24, 2022 at 14:59 #1619936The 8/13 didn’t last too long with skybet
I’ve only had two roll ups on him and one of them lost…😭
Blackbeard to conquer the World
October 24, 2022 at 15:45 #1619941I just had that Awaal win at Redcar in a double with Flighline and need that Courage Mon Ami at Newcastle later to win later to make me 2 from 3 for the treble ups lol, at least even if that fails I’ll have something on the beast.
October 24, 2022 at 16:52 #1619962Just wait for the day itself; there’s bound to be some tasty distance specials available.
Flightline to win by 5+ lengths at evens, maybe?

Chezza’s Courage Mon Ami/Flightline double (to just over double a Chezza’s money) proceeds to its Stateside conclusion!

October 24, 2022 at 17:29 #1619976And good work Chezza!
October 24, 2022 at 17:31 #1619979The Classic is run on the Saturday night, Ben. It’s always the last race of the meeting.
