He has reportedly had leg problems that delayed his debut. Unless it is a very very wet spring I do not envisage him turning up at HQ at the beginning of May. Having won a listed race, and given his pedigree I wouldn’t be surprised if a speculative offer for his services as a stallion somewhere in the world is made in the coming months.

Safe to say that John Oxx has messed this one up, shouldn’t have raced him if he had problems this year and you only have to go back a few years ago to look at his handly of Arazan.
October 30, 2011 at 17:58 #375045Come on CE – John Oxx is a MASTER!
October 30, 2011 at 18:13 #375054Looking at Invincible Spirit’s progeny, very few are at their best in their classic year. They can be good juveniles and then they can make into better older horses but not many seem to show their best as three year olds, Lawman would be an obvious exception.
Our Jonathon is a notable example, a decent juvenile who lost his way at 3 and is now a decent sprinter and probably capable of picking up a pattern race again somewhere.John Oxx must have seen enough from Born to Sea to try him as a juvenile, there’s not much a trainer can do if the horse’s confirmation is lacking somewhere. Unless he shows real zing in the spring, patience will be required to get him back to the racetrack, though if a book of mares can be made he may have an alternative exercise.
October 31, 2011 at 23:20 #375270He pulled early in the contest and still produced a nice turn of foot – that in itself was impressive. To be honest, I never noticed that he was lame, but admired the way he stuck his head out and kept on right to the line.
To produce that type of effort, given the cicumstances, marks him down as an exciting prospect.
He already comes across as a very professional sort and I’m almost certain that we won’t see him again until Newmarket where, granted decent ground, he holds a solid chance.
November 1, 2011 at 02:53 #375289The 3rd got way too close to be thinking he will be a serious challenger in the Guineas next season. He could come on more than Born to Sea who was seriously outpointed with ease by Nephrite
That performance wasn’t even worth a Guineas quote and 12/1 is a joke imo
November 1, 2011 at 06:17 #375301Dear Cheltenham employee. Aidan messed up with SNA. Bolger with Teofilo and Stoute with Carlton House so no big deal. Real easy to say.
November 1, 2011 at 08:21 #375314With his high knee action, I just cannot envisage connexions risking him on anything better than good to soft or a track with undulations.
November 2, 2011 at 10:22 #375574BTS tore a muscle on leaving the stalls on Sunday in the Group 3.In my opinion to get as close as he did to Nephrite whilst carrying an injury for the whole race was a monumental effort.Apparently I’m not the only person who thinks this as his trainer has now stated that he will be trained for the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Although it has been stated on this forum that he mught have a "knee action" his trainer stated before the weekend that he wouldnt want the ground too soft.Invincible Spirit did all of his winning on good or faster ground.
It would appear to me that BTS isnt the soundest of horses,he has suffered with sore shins & now this injury. But to counter that I’ve read that he came to hand very early & Mr Oxx reported he could have run him in May of this year.
Being unbeaten on the way to the 2,000 Guineas isnt a pre-requisite either. In the last 10 years HenrytheNavigator,Cockney Rebel,Haafhd & Rock of Gibraltar were all beaten before going onto land the Classic. Now I’m not suggesting BTS will win the 2,000,however Mr Oxx will wait & see in the spring.I dont expect to see BTS again before the 2,000 Guineas but if he does turn up at Newmarket sit up & take note for Mr Oxx’s record in the UK in the last 5 years is 22 runners 7 winners & 8 placed horses.
Personally I cannot see BTS getting the Derby trip however 1 mile should be fine & if Mr Oxx is gonna train him for the Guineas who am I to argue, the man has forgotten more about racing than I’ll ever know.Anyone for 14’s???November 3, 2011 at 07:53 #375746Nephrite’s not even o’brians best.
November 4, 2011 at 06:00 #375905Can anyone tell which exactly is O’Brien’s best?
November 4, 2011 at 10:17 #375921When I watched the tapes back my first instinct was the colt had run way below best.
John Oxx said in Tuesdays racing post he that he was being treated for a muscle tear in his hind quarters.
Confirms my initial thoughts something wasn’t quite right about his run and we’ll see a better horse in the spring no doubt.
November 4, 2011 at 10:35 #375925Horses that have injuries don’t run as well as Born To Sea did. Don’t kid yourselves folks he’s a smart horse but he’s no world beater.
