Ive read a few ok racing books-biographies in my time most notably Dunwoodys, Vincent O Briens and Curleys etc but Ive also read one or two I hated.

Top of the pile for me is Jenny Pitmans which was just pages on how all round wonderful a trainer and person she was. Boring.

The most disappointing racing book I ever read was the biography of Lester Piggott by Dick Francis.

I’ve always liked the Dick Francis one on Piggott.

I thought the Francis bio embarrassing but did enjoy Lester’s own, later version.

I once read a nauseatingly florid and sensationalist book by Tim Fitzgeorge-Parker called ‘Great Jockeys’ or some such, whose prime objective seemed to be the canonization of said ‘greats’. Long out of print I’d guess, and hope.

LOL @ clivex. I was waiting for somebody to put that up.

I bought "The Tao of Poker" a couple of weeks ago (based partly on the recommendation of a forumite) which I thought was pure rubbish and my biggest waste of €20 in a while (including my bet on USA in the Ryder Cup)

    Yes – hilarious.

EC or myself would no doubt get ‘told off’ by Sal or Cormack if we were to post a similarly derogatory personal attack on another member of this board.

As it is, this unfunny cnut will get off scot-free, again.

    One rule for one….
Ah lighten up.

My most enjoyable books were on Willie Carson and Pat Eddery.

What I found really interesting was Eddery’s comment that he thought the best horse he ever rode was possibly Golden Fleece. You’d’ve put a lot of money on him saying Dancing Brave or El Gran Senor wouldn’t you?

Yes , I can think of nothing worse then people I dont know and will never see (and who obviously dont know me) might turn on me and suggest ….eh suggest what exactly??

And of course me and Clivex are complete syncophants towards each other arent we.

Genuinely sorry if anyone hurt your feelings but im sure he didnt mean it. Alternatively maybe he did…i dont know

Disappointing that blatant racism still exists in this day and age but there you go
I don’t want to get involved in personal squabbles on here but Stav if that accusation is unsubstanciated it’s bang out of order.

Yes its true, Clivex used to be a big fan until he found Stav giving out his book in a nightclub toilet in Bognor Regis. Somehow, even Jupe never smelled as good since.
