if you had one thing you change in the world of bookmaking what would you choose(as a punter)
No shutting down accounts (winning or losing)
Take a bet without a knock back to £2000 now thats not a lot in this day and age.
One thing I hate is at five day stage they go 1,2 a 1/5 odds when 10/11 are declared
and i would like biscuits while playing the machines to go with me tea

One final jibe why back in late 70s early 80s could i get £200 ew way on (not a dirty ew race) in shop without turning a hair, while today its 50 phones calls and a question and answer show
needed to do something before the boxing
June 28, 2025 at 19:32 #1734988Change to a pari mutuel system.
June 29, 2025 at 11:32 #1735058I think they obviously don’t want to take business until the day of the race so why don’t they just wait until the day of the race to price it up but be more competitive on the day? Back when I did bet the only thing I did to tell them I had even the faintest idea was beating SP the night before. Since then they heavily restrict you if you go early and they’ve removed BOG until the morning of the race with pretty much every bookmaker to try and push you to day of the race.
Maybe they can just do away with all these fancy marketing bits/loss leaders like extra places, money back for XXX where they are often the worst price in the market anyway SkyBet looking at you here mainly and focus more on the core offering. Reduce that overround, get the win prices more competitive, actually take a reasonable sized bet.

Sadly the possibility of that desirable situation sailed down the Swanee in the early 1960s. Can’t see it happening any time soon.
June 29, 2025 at 14:25 #1735067I know, Rob, but the initial question was very much hypothetical. 😎
June 29, 2025 at 15:47 #1735086Since I’m a very empathetic kind of guy 👀 I can cope with most of the cr*p that corporate bookiedom throws at me. If they don’t price it up early, or short change on ew terms, or don’t offer BOG or whatever, then at least I can factor that in towards accepting a bet or otherwise.
But having been shut down by bookies just for winning at small stakes really pi**es me off. To be limited to pennies when I normally stake only a tenner is simply pathetic. So the hypocrisy involved in the current pretence of looking after losing punters just sticks in my craw. Hence option 1 on your list, nwalton.June 29, 2025 at 15:55 #1735090some good views/wishes thanks
