Consider that Laurina hammered Minella Indo on their chasing debuts, it has been a disappointing end

Happy retirement Supasundae! Glad to see he has been retired as he seemed to have lost his enthusiasm over the last few runs. Great horse on his day.

I think Might Bite would benefit from being sent to Sandy
    Thomson to train!

Illavim I think even sandy would struggle , he,s gone and a horse as good as he was should not be made to keep going when the heart isn’t there anymore, it’s horrible to watch , he owes no one anything , sandy had a nice double yesterday ..he’s paying for my xmas , the 2nd went off around 8-1 ….backed the night before at 18-1 …I should really send him a Xmas card

Lovely update on Cloudy Dream from the “Racehorses, where are they now” facebook group

“So it’s time to introduce my new horse to the group…. it’s a bit of a long story so I’ll try and condense it a little!!
So aged about 38ish I decided to quit my well paid office job of 18 yrs to pursue my dreams of working in racing again. (I’d briefly worked for a permit holder after attending the Northern Racing College back in 1992)
After spending a year volunteering for a racehorse rehoming charity (who I subsequently rehomed a horse from) I managed to secure a yard job with Malcolm Jefferson in Malton.
Over the 5 years I was there I looked after some wonderful horses like Oscar Rock (aka David – reflection hadn’t appeared at that time) Double W’s, Robbing the Prey, Dante’s way, Grey Life (my first winning lead up) and a pretty dapple grey called Cloudy Dream….
Cloudy soon became the ‘special one’ and he took me to the Cheltenham Festival, aintree etc and finished runner up to some of the best horses around… Altior, Buveur D’air, Native River, Definitely Red, and Smad Place to name just a few.
He was only out of the first 3 once…. his last race for our yard after a long season on unsuitably soft ground….
After 4 seasons together he was moved to another trainer…. my heart was broken and my will to brave the cold long winters evaporated…
I visited him once in his new yard… just to check he was ok. I’m pretty sure he recognised me.

Life without him just wasn’t quite right though and deep down I just felt that our story wasn’t over….. we had unfinished business.
Then I heard he’d retired due to a recurrence of an old injury and was to live with his owner Mr Hemmings on the Isle of Man.. I cried a bit then thought to myself…. no, that’s not how it’s meant to end! We’re supposed to be together!! So I wrote to Mr Hemmings… bared my soul and asked if he would consider letting my boy live out his days with me.
Mr Hemmings rang me and gave me the news I’d been waiting over two years for… my boy was coming home to me.
And today…. he arrived!!! It was a grey dull foggy day in Malton but every Cloud has a silver lining…..
    Welcome home Cloudy Dream “

Can you say the word retired for a horse that’s only ran five times?
