An Saighdiur retired by Andrew Slattery. 104-race career and 12 wins. Chased home Sole Power in a Dundalk maiden way back in 2009!
February 24, 2019 at 18:21 #1399016Funny enough, somebody posted this nice little video of Sole Power enjoying his retirement today. Hope An Saighdiur has an equally happy one.

He was my favourite sprinter at the time a pure 5 furlongs specialist, he never ever won over 6 furlongs.
Wish him a long a happy retirement
Also wishing happy retirement to Buywise who gave us all a fright at the beginning of the year in the Veterans Chase
along with Sole Power’s sparring partner An Saighdiur
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 3, 2019 at 22:32 #1399647Pleased to hear that Chase The Spud has been retired. Great servant to connections, and pleased that they’ve made the right decision, as he had looked a shadow of himself in recent runs.
March 4, 2019 at 12:00 #1399695Sounds like he was never the same after pulling up in the 2017 Welsh National. Just goes to show how a hard race can leave its mark, even if the horse is 100% sound. Well done to connections for calling it a day. Hopefully he’ll have a long & happy retirement
March 4, 2019 at 20:44 #1399739Going to be looked after by his stable lass, I believe.
March 14, 2019 at 17:18 #1402058Noel Fehily almost in tears as he announces live on RUK that he will be retiring soon(dates TBC).
A superb jockey whose longevity at the top of the game is testament to his ability.
March 18, 2019 at 13:51 #1402659I am hoping to see Bless The Wings and God’s Own on here very shortly and then after the Punchestown Festival Faugheen, a track where he seems to excel.
March 18, 2019 at 15:00 #1402665Savello won at Southwell today and Dan Skelton has announced that’s it for him. Great to see going out on a high. Ran good races against some of the best in his day and deserves a long and happy retirement
March 24, 2019 at 17:37 #1403735Pacha Du Polder was retired after pulling up at Cheltenham
March 24, 2019 at 19:02 #1403746Harry Fry’s American was retired after pulling up in the Midlands National. It’s a pity he was too unsound to realise his full potential, only ever having 5 starts in open company and pulling up in 3 of them, but at least he got out more or less in one piece. Happy retirement to the nice big glass legged beast.
March 28, 2019 at 11:33 #1410703Good news Grass, sensible decision, I feared for that horse.
Also good to see Thomas Crapper retired. He was verging on cult status with some, and I bloody loved him, betting him many times, giving me the (very) odd good day. Hope he has a long happy retirement.
April 3, 2019 at 14:34 #1415918Dual Ultima winner Un Temps Pour Tout retired.
Moon Racer (former Champion Bumper, later ran in Champion Hurdle) also retired.
April 3, 2019 at 18:51 #1415961How good could moon racer have been if he didn’t have legs of glass ….shame we,ll never know
April 8, 2019 at 00:10 #1416809Haven’t seen it confirmed, but obviously mentioned before the off, that Saturday would be the last race for Bless The Wings.
Now there’s a horse that’s earned his retirement.
April 9, 2019 at 12:08 #1416923Couldn’t agree more VtC. And here’s another. Happy retirement to Highland Lodge & Bless the Wings

Great news about Highland Lodge, I’ll always associate him with that skid last year.
