Looks like a really star studded race. Only 9 go, but it’s a damn good 9! We’re spoilt for choice!
3 of my Grand National hopes are in there; Black Apalachi, Preists Leap and Notre Pere…
And we have other good chases who are aimed at the National. I’m looking forward to this one. Shame they’re not showing it on channel 4 (though a couple of the courses are up for inspection, so hopefuly if one gets abandoned they’ll take us to Fairyhouse)
February 19, 2010 at 13:00 #277792Surely Notre Pere will win this, some of his form from last season would be enough to win this. That’s the problem though, he hasn’t reproduced any o last season’s form yet.
February 19, 2010 at 13:58 #277814He’s on the heavy ground he loves… but so does Black Apalachi and Preists Leap…
This could go any way.

If it’s genuinely heavy ground, Notre Pere should pick these up and carry them; would need more convincing than trusting the official going report though.
February 20, 2010 at 19:45 #278133After timing but how Vic Centuri wasn’t a good bet today, with how under form Notre Pere has been of late you cant give a horse like Vic Venturi 7lbs who is now full tilt at Aintree now, he’d have a chance there you think.
Notre Pere was a sitting duck and the pressure applied by Vic Venturi who was crusing was enough for him to throw his jockey off. At 11st10 at Aintree and his current form he’d have a very slim chance of winning the National.
I’d probably bring his season to a close and get him geared up for next year, something seems wrong with him.
February 20, 2010 at 20:38 #278143I thought Paddy Flood gave Vic Venturi a peach of a ride today. I’ve liked this horse since his novice hurdling days, and always felt that there would be a decent race in him at some point. I liked the way he was popped round today – he jumped really well – and I was sufficiently impressed to have a few quid on for the National after the race.

I hear what you say,Grasshopper, and I agree with your every word.
Half way down the back straight I was frothing at the mouth and dropped everything to get some of the 28’s available for Aintree.
He jumped like a stag today and was going to win from a very long way out.
We know he likes Aintree,he has a good racing weight, though no blip on the handicap, and all being well should have a great chance. - AuthorPosts
