This is the second year of this series. Here is a brief description of how it works from the Blue Square website:
The Blue Square Sprint Series is a six furlong feature held every Saturday during January and February with a Grand Prix style points system rewarding runners, riders and trainers down to 6th place.
The Blue Square Sprint Series Grand Final will take place on Saturday 26th February.
The series will consist of 7 rounds of 6 furlong sprints. Each round will offer enhanced prize money for this category of around £4,000 (current average £1,500) with the Grand Final being worth £15,000. The Grand Final will be open to all horses within the weight range as normal but entry preference will be given to those that have amassed points during the 7 qualifying rounds. Points will be awarded as below
It strikes me that this is an interesting model for all low grade racing in the future because the structure of the series is designed to ensure all the horses are trying in all the races.
From an owner’s point of view, you are running for greater than average prizemoney in each of the qualifying heats with the chance to go for a decent sized pot in the final.

Would Frank be up to staying another furlong now?
