Hi there people, i remember many months ago, i heard through the forum that Black Jacari is being aimed at the Triumph Hurdle 2009 Festival. Well i was just wondering how the horse is leading up to tomorrows race for the horse. I hope its good and ready and i was wondering if he is or not?

    https://theracingforum.co.uk/forum/v … ht=#170843 – think its in there somewhere

The short answer is that we’ll find out tomorrow (technically later today)

The objective is still the Triumph but that seems a long way away

Alan is ‘delighted’ with the horse. He’s in great shape, is working well and is a natural over obstacles, it’ll be interesting to see if he’s able to translate it to the race tomorrow.

Choc thinks that he’s further ahead than Katchit was at this stage (then urged us not to get excited)

The fly in the ointment is the bad experiences BJ had at York and Sandown in the summer where fast ground upset him and affected him next time out.

Hopefully the hurdles will keep his mind focussed.

So that’s it – don’t know if he’ll win there are a couple in the race with the advantage of experience but if the horse is what we hope he is, he’ll be there or there abouts.

Quite a decent looking little race that. Woolfall Treasure certainly looks well fancied but it wouldnt be the first well fancied moore horse to go belly up.

Black Jacari obviously had some decnt flat form and is in decent hands.

Evan Williams ex agha khan pair Simarian and Akarshan both look like potentially decent sorts on paper.

Then theres howard johnsons horse Indian Groom. This looks a decent enough little race this early on in the season and should be worth a watch, the bookies look to have it quite well covered though and where im tempted to possibly have a go on evan williams pair at 5s and 7s, i think i’ll just spectate.

Good luck Black Jacari fans. If he wins today I imagine he will be a favorite for the triumph straight away just through all the speculation theres been about him.

I thought the winner looked the part and ran on really well, could be decent.

I thought Black Jacari ran a cracker given that it was his first spin over hurdles under rules. Came off the bridle a little about 4f out only to come back on with about 2f to go. Hung left a bit at the end but a bit more experience and he looks a good one. He’s with the right trainer as well. The 33/1 available looks generous enough IMO at this early stage particularly with the quote from Alan King as stated above that the horse is further along than Katchit at this stage.

The winner looks a good prospect.

The winner is certainly a very interesting prospect (especially with Kings comments ref Black Jacari, the betting and the superiority of the first four home). Hard to know much about Indian Groom as he is lightly raced but he definitely appears to go well fresh and loves jumping ground. Could High Chaparral emerge as a better jumps sire than he has been on the level so far?

Another good run today was by Unfurled who finished second to Maslak today, interesting if he can build on that as he wasnt a bad 3yo on the flat and would look a likely sort over jumps.

I would stay on the right side of Black Jacari for the time being, he will have a decent season.

I wasn’t very happy with his head-carriage, Gaz, perhaps he was feeling the ground a bit.

Neesom, on RUK, suggested that he is not the heartiest in a finish, having shown signs of not battling it out in races on the flat. I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that but it might be worth bearing in mind.

JP McManus has a fairly interesting hurdle debutant running tomorrow at clonmel in the form of Lethal Weapon, his last run on the flat (5th of 15 behind profound beauty no less) was highly encouraging but can he transfer his form to jumps.

Yeh to be fair, his head carriage wasn’t brilliant, could have been numerous things though, he often likes fast running races and is used to a stronger pace, so it may have been that he wants to go on more, which could possibly improve next time out.

It could even be that he doesn’t like the bit that is used in his mouth at the moment.

The only thing which i have reservations about with the lad is that when he gets asked, he sometimes hangs a little bit, and doesnt really like to get into a battle.

His jumping was great though which is good as he has schooled well.

He should improve a lot for his outing today though.

I’m with Colin, I think it was a dubious performance from Black Jakari temperamentally and think that given his connections, will always start a fair bit shorter than his form might suggest he should. I’ll either be a layer or a watcher next time. Likeable performance from the winner. He’s a half-brother to a stayer on the Flat I’ve plenty of time for in Silver Suitor and as you say Colin, he looks a real good scopey type.

Early days for these but the winner looked decent enough. Agree with DJ about the second, a watching brief very much the order of the day with him for now.

Yep, put me in the Black Jacari-sceptics camp for the time being as well, for all the reasons Colin and David J have given.

I remember trashing Franchoek’s Triumph Hurdle credentials after he finished a onepaced third in the equivalent contest last year, only to be made to look very silly indeed subsequently. The difference between Franchoek then and Black Jacari this time, however, was that even in defeat the former looked comparatively straightforward.

To my mind Black Jacari put in an entirely serviceable round of jumping on this debut over timber, so it looks – as one would expect – that Alan King has got the technical apects of the new job spot on with the gelding. It’s how, if at all, he can address the stuff between the ears from hereon that will determine how much more there is to come.

Anyone see that race yesterday? Irishracing.com said he did it fairly easily, but may have been extremely poor opposition. Will get round to checking it on ATR eventually.
