Oh no. Her foal has now died. So the pain she went through was all in vain. Heartbreaking.
August 19, 2024 at 09:14 #1704917So sad. RIP little one.
August 19, 2024 at 15:07 #1704931A very sad ending for such beutiful Mare and her baby.
Cross the Rainbow Bridge 🌈 and run free with the pack Black Caviar and your dear sweet foal, together forever and always in our hearts.😢
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 19, 2024 at 17:12 #1704942Very sad news, but I guess inevitable. If greenasgrass is correct with the high dose of steroids given to Black Caviar, how could it not affect the foal?
It was probably just guesswork by the vets. I hope the foal didn’t suffer too much…..
August 20, 2024 at 12:43 #1705012I’ve just listened to a vet speaking on Australian radio about it I’ve realised I am getting over emotional about it because of her high profile. He explained what can bring on laminitis, especially during pregnancy. The anti racing lobby are having a field day about it. I do still feel unbelievably sad about it though. Her trip to Ascot is still so vivid in my memory, especially that special travelling suit that she wore.
