Paul Bittar calls for life bans on horses tested poitive for steroids
March 11, 2014 at 08:07 #470777Life bans for the people responsible, not the horses. They had no say in the matter so why should they be penalised? Imagine what the outcry would have been like if Best Mate, Dessie, Rock of Gibraltar, Galileo, etc, had been banned for life.
March 11, 2014 at 11:03 #470798talk the talk is fine Mr Bittar …but how about releasing the Zarooni report …then we can take you serious
until then your just a bookie’s man , no more and no less
in my opinion of course

March 11, 2014 at 12:05 #470812Ricky, why do you think that this is being withheld?

What on earth makes you think there would have been an outcry ?

Galileo or Best Mate, multi Grade 1 winners being banned from ever running again? Why do you think there wouldn’t be? It’s not like the horses can say give me the drugs as humans can do.
March 11, 2014 at 18:06 #470921Obi , the answer is pretty obvious if you think about it

cheers
imo

But if they were found to have had steroids given to them early in their careers and banned they wouldn’t have gone on to be multiple G1 winners. If they were found with steroids later everyone would have assumed they had always been on steroids and the respect for them would have gone. A bit like Encke, people now really have no respect for his Leger win because of the suspicion that he may have had steroids administered. And that’s just suspicion. If last Installment wins on Friday he will never be loved because of his association with Fenton, and Fenton hasn’t even been proved to have done anything wrong yet. Linford Christie was one of our best athletes and very well respected and liked. Olympic and World Champion. Does anyone really respect his achievements now ?

isn’t the fundamental issue with drugs the pollution of the breed ?
if it was just a matter of level-playing-field, that might as well be achieved by total free-for-all as by total ban.
