It’s always intriguing to see a sole 2 year old newcomer in a big race, you don’t get many of them and when you do it’s usually from a trainer renowned for windmill tilting or the owners just wanting a nice day out.
Andrew Balding’s I Love Me won the £200,000 Tatts Auction Trophy, granted not prestigious but competitive, I then began to try and think of other 2 year olds winning when seemingly thrown in at the deep end.
Kingsgate Native got beat a head in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, but the only winner I can think of was the brilliant Chief Singer (unless i’m imagining it) who won the Coventry on debut by 4 lengths (I think).
Anyone think of any others??

It seems to happen quite regularly in Ireland – Cherokee won a Group 3 on debut for Aiden O’Brien, Long Lashes won the Ballygallon and Chrysanthemum won the Flame Of Tara only a week or so ago.
I can’t recall too many over here in the last few years.
