There were some AWFUL falls yesterday – none more so than that of Bible Lord who lay ominously still … thankfully he got up BUT:
Racing Post:
[i:cl3yseb4]Things were not quite so good for Haynes’s mount Bible Lord, whose trainer Andy Turnell said on Saturday: “He seems to have damaged his neck. [Vets and officials] are having a meeting at 10 o’clock today to see if he can come back or if he’ll have to go to a veterinary practice up there.“He was in a bad way yesterday but I’m hopeful that he’ll be okay.”[/i:cl3yseb4]
We’re rooting for you old chap – come on!!!
April 9, 2011 at 09:33 #349403Certainly are rooting for him, poor old boy. That’s the third time his trainer has asked him go over the ‘big fences’ and the third time he has fallen. He is a poor jumper at the best of times, won’t his connection be content until he is dead.
April 9, 2011 at 10:43 #349427Your last few words tb, a little harsh, but agree with the sentiment. They need their heads testing for running Bible Lord over National fences. Rated with an X for a poor jumper in Timeform, and with good reason.
TAKE NOTE BHA:
Bible Lord is one the authorities SHOULD NOT ALLOW to run over National fences.
Value Is EverythingApril 9, 2011 at 10:44 #349428His sketchy jumping has been mentioned on here several times over the past few seasons, although he did seem to be jumping a tad better this year. Lets hope he pulls through and spends his life pointing or hunting from now on. If they continue to race him I hope he does a ‘Chaninbar’.
April 9, 2011 at 20:38 #349523hello am new
Had to register to post that if anyone has any news PLEASE update this thread. I watched the race and if I was looking at the right horse, (maybe more than one chestnut fell). I would swear the chestnut whose jockey was unerneath him was trying desperately to heave his prone body off the jock and not merely trying to rise. Praying he’ll be OKApril 9, 2011 at 22:53 #349545Your last few words tb, a little harsh, but agree with the sentiment. They need their heads testing for running Bible Lord over National fences. Totally agree.
April 11, 2011 at 19:30 #349848Not very good news today …
Racing Post:
BIBLE LORD, who fell in the John Smith’s Topham Chase at Aintree on Friday, is in a serious condition in veterinary hospital in Liverpool, where he is being treated for two fractured vertebrae.
The ten-year-old fell at the eighth fence in Friday’s race, having previously made mistakes, injuring both horse and jockey. RiderHarry Haynes was taken to hospital with suspected concussion before being released.
Bible Lord, however, was initially too badly injured to move from the racecourse stables at Aintree and x-rays to determine the extent of his injuries were only completed on Monday, when the damage was revealed.
Andy Turnell, Bible Lord’s trainer, said: "He’s got two fractured vertebrae; number three and four have been fractured. The next ten days will be crucial."
Hopefully he will pull through … I’m sure he will be given every chance.
April 11, 2011 at 21:59 #349886Poor lad, I know a Turnell lass who’s quite fond of him. I’ll let you guys know if i hear anything else from her. Turnell stables very depleted atm.
With regards to bad jumpers, couldn’t agree more, surely there is a way of weaseling out bad jumpers and trying to make sure they can’t go over national fences. I refuse to believe i was the only person that did this face
when they saw That’s Rhythm and Grand Slam Hero entered for the national. Silly risks to horse and rider that are not worth taking.April 12, 2011 at 02:06 #349908You certainly weren’t the only one with a raised eyebrow Emmy, at Grand Slam Hero’s participation. Although, sadly it is par for the course as far as Twister is concerned. Often runs poor jumpers in the race. e.g. Knowhere and Ballyfitz.

Well said- I agree entirely
April 22, 2011 at 08:14 #351519Has anyone heard any further news about his progress?
April 22, 2011 at 12:04 #351558Yes – I contacted his trainer yesterday and had a quick reply with GOOD news!:
He is in the Equine Hospital at Liverpool and looks like he will make a full recovery. We are told he could race again, but his owner Mr. Martin Tedham is relectant to risk him and will almost certainly have him home in retirement.
April 22, 2011 at 15:19 #351585Oh, that is good news, TenPlus. Let’s hope he’s happily retired now to enjoy himself. Frankly, I thought he was killed instantly when I saw it because he just looked like a crumpled heap of dead horse.
April 22, 2011 at 15:30 #351587Thanks for that, wonderful news
