It was my stupendous privilege to be there in 2021 when Tis Marvellous became the first horse in history to complete the notoriously-stiff dog-leg 5f on the Westwood in under a minute.

And he won the contest again (you’ll note I didn’t use the truly risible expression “defended his crown” as there is no crown to defend) last year.

A hat-trick bid may be on the cards, but dangers abound.

The 48-hour declarations are this morning.

I expect everyone to get very excited about this great race and I will really be quite cross if anyone declines to do so.
