Betfair Group subsidiary TVG has acquired the HRTV horseracing television network from The Stronach Group.
As a result of the acquisition, TVG now has long-term television rights to the racecourses owned and operated by the Stronach Group.
Betfair said:
Following the transaction, Betfair will own 100 per cent of the equity in the unified television platform.
As part of the acquisition, TVG has acquired broadcast rights to all races from Santa Anita, Gulfstream Park, Pimlico, Golden Gate Fields and Laurel Park for a term of seven years.

There is a HK angle to this also:
For several months now HRTV has been sending HKJC pictures into US homes, with another company in The Stronach Group, Xpressbet, commingling into HK pools.
TVG has already similarly been sending HK pictures into US homes, along with its totalisator partner Sportech Racing and Digital.
Wonder if/when Betfair in GB might start referring those of its GB clients interested in HK racing to its US operations ?
February 18, 2015 at 17:35 #751353In all seriousness who is interested.
I can’t pick winners in the UK where I study the form I certainly would not bet abroad where I have no idea of form whatsover.
February 18, 2015 at 19:43 #751374short answer: lot easier to make it pay in HK.
– two meetings a week;
– smaller and more stable horse population;
– highly policed form;
– free and hugely detailed formbook both written and on video;
– huge betting pools.give it a go if you have time in GB:
Sundays from 05:00 – 09:50 and/or Wednesdays from 11:15 – 14:45.(this weekend though Sat instead of Sun, for Year of Goat).

Where does one bet into HK pools in the UK? I presumed there was no such facility.

not directly into, but from the UK maybe go through something like Paddy Power’s Aussie subsidiary:

for the Extel experience, these HKJC commentary links go near-live around 15 mins before the day’s racing (HKJC works in a deliberate variable delay of around 30 – 50 seconds):

11 races on tomorrow’s New Years Day card, first at 04:30 UK time. final racecard now available for download.

No, they don’t accept UK registrations. As the HK’s own betting site requires one to be a HK domicile, I would think it unlikely that anywhere (legally) accepts UK bets into their pools.
You do repeat your assertion that it’s "a lot easier to make it pay in HK". I would need some statistical evidence. The fact that the HKJC is awash with cash surely points to the opposite! Their overall margin in 2013/14 was 17.8% on an jaw-dropping HK94 billion (£7.87bn) turnover.

February 20, 2015 at 21:29 #751598wow – they really have expanded their Restricted Territories since last I looked:
https://help.sportsbet.com.au/app/answe … l/a_id/112
seems like still available to Ireland, Isle of Man and Channel Islands, but the UK is now out.
so – outside of unofficial channels in Asia – its a question either of being in HK or finding another way into one of the HKJC comminglers in AUS or the US.
i’ve seen it suggested there are ways in via the AUS TABs but have no details at present.
in terms of easier to make pay, i can speak only from personal experience. i know there are others on here though who might have a view on it….
February 20, 2015 at 22:37 #751622Something tells me HK betting could be a hard sell!
