Not the biggest of races but any ideas of a winner? I ilke Paco Boy although Hughes is riding and gave it a slight shocker last time in France.
July 28, 2008 at 16:33 #175124First time up against colts and older horse but the drop in trip and class may suit Infallible.
July 28, 2008 at 18:55 #175137Infallible has a great chance coming back in trip but I’d want better than 13/8 to back her.
At 15/2 I think King Of Dixie is over priced. I make it a 15% 11/2 chance and currently available at 15/2, slightly more on exchanges. Is on the up, did not get the run of the race last time (held up in slowly run race). With Dunelight and Racer Forever, possibly Il Wared too, looks enough pace tomorrow.
14/1 Stimulation is also worth a bet, not far behind Il Wared at Ascot and trainer now in good form. One of the best looking three year olds in training and may be capable of better.
At a very big price Racer Forever, though it is possible he’s flattered and temperamental, odds of around 43/1 look tempting.Mark

and rfc the two of themJuly 28, 2008 at 22:59 #175173I think it’s a tricky race to work out.
Infallible’s Group 1 form is certainly the strongest, but she appears very short.
Must admit, Il Warrd is a horse I like. I was surprised Dettori chose that one over Calming Influence in the Jersey but he was proved right, and he may have come up against a future G1 horse in Aqlaam.
At current prices, I’ll probably back that one and Arabian Gleam.

She took on older horses (mares) in her last race; it’s her first time against the colts though.
To me, this looks a poor race and Infallible should win it: she is the only one with the ability to compete in Group 1-company.
I’m slightly concerned by her habit of coming second after travelling very strongly, and having excuses made for her (too far, too firm)… but I’m backing her as I think 13/8 is a fair price.
July 28, 2008 at 23:58 #175180Probably due to the trip NWRA, which should be bang right tomorrow

I wouldn’t be too sure about that, Clivex.
After her Ascot run John Gosden said she needed a stiff 7f or 1m, and she did nothing wrong in the Falmouth except get beaten by a better horse, yet they now see her as a 6/7f animal?
Dunelight is in the form of his life at the moment, and with no Tariq to contend with this year looks a better bet, win & place, than Infallible imo.July 29, 2008 at 08:56 #175194At a conventional track, I could see why people might want to back Infallible at the price, but at Goodwood – no thank you.
King Of Dixie is the horse I like – if he had had a strong pace in all of his starts and hadnt fluffed the start in the Victoria Cup, I think he would be an unbeaten horse. He is a big improver and i will be suprised and a little disappointed if he isn’t good enough to mix it here.
July 29, 2008 at 09:06 #175198I would agree with reet hard here – I think Dunelight is a great each-way bet. Loves the track and is competitive enough in Group 2 company to make the 12/1 available with Bet365 (1/4 place odds) tempting enough for me.
July 29, 2008 at 14:09 #175227This is a poor turnout for a Group 2. I’d like to find to something to beat Infallible with cause I think she’s beatable at the price. Shes travels well and finds very little, what little she does find lasts for about only a furlong and Goodwood is a decent test of stamina. Nothing really stands out to take her on with though. Arabian Gleam back over 7 with Murtagh will be interesting.
Watching brief only for me, trappy race.
July 29, 2008 at 15:39 #175237Well done crizzy
Virtually every bookmaker on Oddschecker showed Dunelight at 14/1 about 20 secs before the off (Blue Square were actually 16/1) but SP of 12/1 returned. Must have been a flood of each-way money just at the off.
July 29, 2008 at 22:55 #175264Paco Boy, did everything asked. well placed as far as entry was concerned. Pleased for connections.
