Would be unlike nicky to chuck one in at the deep end first go

Unless he can get a prep run into him id think its unlikely

Saint Calvados has setback due to septicemia and not going here, just in case anybody was mulling over AP bets this evening. B365, boylesports and a couple of others still have him listed.

Yes. I hope the ground isn’t heavy, wouldn’t want him to tear the guts out of himself on the first run of the season and his running and jumping style isn’t really suited to an energy saving creep ‘n’ pop. No better jockey than Power to nurse one carefully for as long as possible if necessary mind you .

Also- anyone thinking about heavy ground and considering Lord du Mesnil as a nice ew- I think he was struck into and likely to miss it though still listed with some bookies.

Paul Nicholls on Clan Des Obeaux…

“Lostintranslation is probably the one to beat but my horse is a dual King George winner and we’ve set out to win the Betfair Chase and not just get ready for Kempton. He’s got a big chance on the weekend.”

I can’t see clan beating LIT , he maybe further on but Haydock suits LIT more , a proper test and he,ll outstay him , it,ll be a good race esp as this BDM Gold cup

They said similar things about clan on reappearance last year

“I would say he is at least 5lb better going right-handed. He just jumps slightly to his right and he always has done. I’m quietly confident he will take a lot of beating.”

“He is very well, I think he has improved this year and will take a lot of beating. He had a school on Thursday morning and we are very happy with him”

    He still needed the run

They can say what they like but I cant imagine there is any chance they will want him having a hard race before going for a third king George
