It appears that many bookmakers are attempting to increase their profitability by regularly advertising ‘bet builders’. All they are doing is trying to persuade punters to lose more money by betting on accumulators. My bookmaker promotes ready made bet builders comprising of 4 football matches where the projected winner is always slighty odds on or 11/10 against.
The temptatiom is that if all 4 win you will get approx 8/1. Simply click to place bet and fill in your stake.
For my amusement I have kept a record of these ready made bets. As could be expected, there is usually one to let you down and it is often the shortest price one!
We know that bingo is designed so that the majority of punters will be ‘only one off’ and therefore encouraged to have another go. Are bookmakers using the same strategy knowing that it is likely 3 out of 4 will be correct? Do punters really fall for this nonsense?
