Could end up with a bunch of shemale jockeys cheating the system

Jockeys cheating – surely some mistake here!
It’s a little insulting to suggest that all our lady jockeys need to (ahem) lose half a stone before they can be competitive. There’s plenty of male jockeys who are weak in a finish – should they get 7 lbs as well. The lady jockeys need more opportunities IMO – as I understand it they are treated equally (by horse connections) in places like New Zealand and Macau (as a previous poster mentioned) so why not Ireland and UK
July 11, 2007 at 08:58 #107284Natalia Gemlova on the flat……does well on some terrible horses….Nina is different class on NH – esp in the 2m bumpers, and Cross Country races.
July 11, 2007 at 09:56 #107291Katie Walsh deserves a mention, although she’s rather in Nina’s shade at present. She may not be the very best jockey out there, but kudos goes to Frankie Pickard too, if only because she gets booked to ride by trainers who assume she must be a bloke. Clever girl!
July 11, 2007 at 10:22 #107293Rose Davidson NH & Danielle Mccreery Flat (Danielles record on Cripsey Brook is only bettered by KIM TINKLER!
This is sarcasm, right? Please tell me it’s sarcasm.
July 11, 2007 at 11:05 #107301One of the best Lady jocks I know and have seen riding in races is Lucy Rowsell( nee Pearce)… the way she presents a horse to fence is like watching a female McCoy… sadly she is a point to point jock…but she does have the odd ride in Ladies hurdle races and N.H. races…and she is Wales top jock…..and for the men out there if you want to see a jockey with model looks then this one will get you going….
July 11, 2007 at 11:15 #107307Kelly Harrison shows much promise in the apprentice ranks, and her experience as an amateur has clearly done her no harm.
Hayley Turner’s ability has been mentioned on plenty of occasions on the forum. She gets plenty of rides, it would be nice to see her put up on better horse in better events, I’m sure she would show her worth.
Nina Carberry’s mounts are a standing dish in amateur events in Ireland, particularly bumpers. Arguably one of the best amateur lady riders since ladies started riding against men.
Katie Walsh is another talented rider from Irelnad, and the fact that she doesn’t get quite the same coverage as Carberry suggests maybe her mounts are better value?
Clearly ‘the welsh wizard’ doesn’t rate Rose Davidson, but I do. She is a decent judge of pace and presents her mounts well at the jumps. Maybe she lacks a little bit in a finish, but that could possibly be said for many jockeys anyway.
It strikes me that the lighter weighted women jockeys are riding closer to their natural weight than the men. I would have thought this would be an advantage.

July 11, 2007 at 12:15 #107325BEST females imo are N Carberry, H Turner and C Gannon. The later I feel could do well if only she could get the chance BUT that Finglas accent of her’s cant help.
My FAVOURITE female jockey is Ann Stokell. Did you see her ride at Warwick on Pawan the other evening. I nearly choked on my fookin super I was laughin so much. Bloody classic, reminds me of Dean McKeown at his best!!!!!!!!!!July 11, 2007 at 15:01 #107362Rose Davidson NH & Danielle Mccreery Flat (Danielles record on Cripsey Brook is only bettered by KIM TINKLER!

Have to agree with that. Seen Miss Davidson give more than her fair share of truly terrible rides, especially over the bigger obstacles.

Have a care, Heffo. Such was my faith in the unlucky horse, I was on at twenties as were, I would imagine, a few other TRF’ers.
Having Annie ride a horse in professional races is like The Dog and Duck first eleven being invited to play in the Premier League.
Hayley Turner for me, to stay on topic.
July 11, 2007 at 15:46 #107374Sincere heart felts for those, like yourself Max, who backed the horse. Still hilarious though.

July 11, 2007 at 16:12 #107380Heffo, I missed a smiley out. Right after the first sentence. (Amazing how a single smiley can change the tone of a post LOL).
I was livid at the time though.
July 11, 2007 at 16:21 #107381No prob Max, I could gather from your post that you accepted mine wasn’t a sneer at the horses backers.

I can’t name them SHL, but names are not my strong point. As long as they are quiet when they are leaving my room in the morning I don’t care what they are called
