I know Edna is his ultimate creation but I just love Sir Les , and all done on the cusp with little swearing just a few look , ” flashing the map of Tasmania ” is just a brilliant line , RIP Barry

He reached out to pick up a book on a table and tripped on a rug. Stairs not the culprit here.

I posted this in the “funny clips” thread.

Humphries was one of the all time greats and is in my top 5.

Christopher Plummer croaked the same way – a fall at his home and a blow to the head and King Lear never hit the silver screen. He died a couple of weeks after the accident They did not go into detail as relatives rarely want to dwell on the demise, but I strongly suspect the stairs which can be lethal and I always view them as monsters disguised in form.
Ivana Trump also fell down stairs and died at 73 – a lady I know who knew her well informed me that the many stories penthouse where she resided was to be replaced by a stainless flat in a couple of months. Blunt impact injuries – bad luck –
I have fallen down stairs three times in my lifetime and survived the indignity with a few aches and bruises. A short bannister rail trapped me twice and I fell down the last step. The other time I was in a pushchair being negligently pulled up the stairs. Pushchair and me tumbled down from stair 11 but baby’s bounce. !

Make that four times – descending icy steps outside the house a couple of years back. Ice is not nice and the innocent wet leaf has also taken many innocent lives.

The additional question I always ask is was the victim of a stair fall in their right mind at the time ? Also were they under the influence of a legal or non legal drug, or a strong medication. Were they tired or unwell at the time ? The doctor calls and the actuary !

    In Barry’s own words…

“I was reaching for a book, my foot got caught on a rug or something, and down I went.”

Loose carpets and rugs are second cousins to stairs!
BE AWARE – TREAT A RUG LIKE A WILD ANIMAL – some of them were !

The book he was reaching for may well have been a biography.

Certainly a great artist and comedian. I suppose you could say he lived many lives !

My late friend’s brother’ late wife caught her foot in a hoover lead plugged in but not on, at the top of the stairs. She tumbled down and died. Leads are lethal !

There is one lingering doubt we all secretly share about Barry’s death..
