Not sure he’s gone to the big track in the sky yet? I thought he would have by now, but apparently from what I’ve read he hasn’t. If he has I’m sure he’s still making it pay up their.

More proof , if it were needed, of the power of the VDW methodology. Well done, Barney, and you must be well on the way to cracking VDW. Can he really still be alive, Maggsy?

I would have thought not, but apparently from what I have been reading on the net , can’t mention where I don’t want to upset anybody , but some one has apparently tracked him down and they do believe him to be the real VDW and claim to have proof and be writing a book about him next year.VDW must at least now be in his 90’s so it’s possible he is still alive.

"VDW must at least now be in his 90’s"

I don’t know why you think that, but even if he born before the First World War he could easily be alive. My mother-in-law was 96 on 10th December, and the father-in-law of a friend of my wife still teaches the piano, and drives a car, at 97.

I knew vdw had been tracked down. However i did not know that the same person was going to write a book about vdw. Could you please confirm any further details you may have on the subject.

    THANK YOU
    PAUL

Hensmen , you could be right he could be younger than I think he is.

Arkle all I know is that a VDW follower has supposedly tracked VDW down and he is still living on the out skirts of Market Harborough in a bungalow . This guy is releasing a book next year because it’s 30 years since the first letter was published in the old Raceform paper.Apparently he has contacted VDW and VDW threatened him with legal action if he didn’t leave him alone. He is accusing VDW or Tony peach of making up details of VDW life for instance that he was never a dutch resistance fighter in the second world war.Don’t know if any of this is true it’s only what I’ve read on the internet. Hensmen or Mtoto might know more about it than me.

During a telephone conversation with Tony Peach, parts of which he related In "Racing In My System", VDW mentioned that during the thirties he used to come over from Holland for the Lincoln Meeting, among others, because England was "where the action was." Assuming that he was in his mid-twenties at that time would mean that if he is alive he would be in his nineties as Hensman suggests. What causes me to doubt the reports being discussed is that his health seemed to be failing at the time when he was in contact with Tony Peach.
