Gutted to hear that this lovely horse has gone. He was taken to the Leahurst Equine hospital after falling in the Melling Chase but couldn’t be saved. R.I.P.

April 12, 2015 at 16:42 #882980Evidently damaged his shoulder sadly. RIP Balder Succes.
April 12, 2015 at 19:26 #883184Shocked! So very sad .. I absolutely adored him. RIP
April 12, 2015 at 19:56 #883230Such sad sad news. Loved this horse – my thoughts are with his lad who I remember being interviewed leading him in after one of Balder Sucess’s wins on C4 Racing and saying how he hardly sleeps the night before one of his races….
April 12, 2015 at 21:39 #883284Yes, I remember that interview. It makes it even worse. He always turned him out looking an absolute picture.
April 13, 2015 at 10:14 #884228Absolutely gutted and shocked to hear about this. I didn’t give it a second thought as I’m sure they said on C4 that both SDG and BS were absolutely fine after the race??
April 13, 2015 at 10:21 #884258Also couldn’t believe the news, sad for all connections especially his lad.
RIP Balder Success :(
Some horses just take your breath away, he was one
of those.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 15, 2015 at 19:40 #889284I was shocked and saddened to read this. He far exceeded my expectations as a chaser. Some jumping issues crept in for him lately and so sorry it cost him so dear
April 17, 2015 at 11:16 #893063Just had a lovely reply to an email I sent to the Alan King yard last week. They say they have been overwhelmed by how many people have said how sorry they were at his loss. It still gives me a jolt every time I see his name here, so I can’t imagine how sad they are.
