4th confirmed fatality at Newton Abbot today (so far). Pulled up in the same race that claimed Hallowed Rose. Still the novice chase to go….
June 25, 2024 at 17:01 #1699932We got through 5 days of racing at Ascot with a large amount of runners everyday without a single fatality. 4 in 1 day at the same meeting is disgraceful
Summer jumping not for me
June 25, 2024 at 20:46 #1699956I’m afraid I agree Prong. Not just today but carnage at Market Rasen a couple of weeks ago and Cartmel before that. Worst thing is that nobody senior in racing seems to think that it’s a problem.
June 25, 2024 at 21:53 #1699959I’m part of the Owners Group syndicate for Huelgoat who also came down at Newton Abbot, in the 3.00 today, and I have to say I am not a fan of summer jumping. Heartily relieved his name isn’t on here tonight. Condolences to all those who lost horses today.
June 25, 2024 at 23:31 #1699975What evidence are you putting forward that summer racing is responsible for these fatalities?
Huelgoat won over course and distance three weeks ago, summer racing wasn’t responsible for his fall today. The majority of his racing has been on good ground or faster and he’s won and been second on good to firm.
