I love your ratings in general, there are a couple of i disagree with however 95% makes interesting reading. I am right in saying you do not employ trip handicapping methods? Of late i have been spending 50% of my time triping (trip handicapping) used in convention with a number of other things.
I have also noticed a slight change at southwell lately? Have you noticed it too, i would say what it is but I want to be sure that it isnt me over analysing things, as can happen when one looks at something too long and hard.

Thanks itsawar, of course your not going to agree with all the ratings, which is fine because producing ratings is a personal thing and we all have a different take on which criteria to use and what importance to give to each of them.
Your right I don’t use trip handicapping, to be honest I don’t know too much about it.

Not sure what you’re thinking on Southwell is, you might need to enlighten me. The only thing that has struck me about Southwell is that it suits handy types and you don’t get too many horses coming from behind to win but I guess that has always been the case and is not the recent change you’re talking about.

I’m working on ratings for turf handicaps at the moment(will differ slightly from AW ratings) and also handicap hurdles and chases.

Hi apracing, sorry for the delay in responding to your question re. Langley on Mar.26th. The horse did have some of the criteria that I use to produce the ratings but not nearly all and I admit the rating was not ideal.

If a horse does not have all the criteria I will go ahead and rate the race depending on the Racing Post betting forecast and therefore may decide to leave it if the horse in question is among the forecast favourites or is at a price of say less than 10-1. However in this case the joint second rated horse went on to win the race.

Hopefully you’ll have more data available when he reappears at Kempton on Saturday. Prior to the Lingfield race, I’d have agreed with you rating him lowest in that field, as he’d shown me nothing over hurdles!
