June 19, 2021 at 07:56 #1546533Possibly a Yellow-throated Vireo
June 19, 2021 at 08:52 #1546553It certainly looks like a yellow wagtail.
Sometimes people mistake them for grey wagtails, which do have a prominent streak of yellow on them. They are a fairly common sight – I often see them in my local park – whereas the yellow variety is a summer migrant.
June 19, 2021 at 09:20 #1546562Aha, on reflection I think it was Grey Wagtails I saw in Ribblesdale
Here’s a useful link:
I love watching birds but don’t claim to being a ‘birdwatcher’ let alone a ‘twitcher’ as I’m pretty poor at identification outwith a relative handful of common species. Even worse at identifying them by song and fairly recently downloaded an app from an outfit called BirdNET that analyses and identifies songs via my mobile’s microphone
Very pleasing when out and about amidst the glorious chorus to have had identified such exotic (to me) species as Chiffchaff, Blackcap and Willow Warbler; and I think I can now distinguish between the songs of a Blackbird and Song Thrush, both of which are truly wonderful
Never heard of a Vireo, which on googling isn’t surprising as they seem to be restricted to the New World
June 19, 2021 at 10:17 #1546575It’s a Willow Warbler.
