Just read that Annie Power is in foal to Camelot.

And we all thought Annie Power was having a much needed rest and there she was canoodling with Camelot what a great pairing.

Well this is it, the last week of the competition. Still bonus races running today
and tomorrow at Punchestown, but don’t forget to get your transfer in by 9pm
tomorrow, Friday 28/04/17 (final week 25). Ian Tidmarsh (Moet and Pizza Darlings)
still tops our legue, but I’ve no idea if he has any still running at Punchestown
as he has a closed stable. Next week has a further 2 bonus races at Sandown, the
Celebration Chase, where surely Altior is points in the bank, and the Bet365 Gold
Cup, which is mega competitive as you would expect.

Good luck Ian, and all for the remainder of this week. I’ll update where we are after
the close of play tomorrow :good:

Not that it’s going to make a great deal of difference for me in the scale of
things, but I nipped out to pick someone up, who turned out to be over an hour
late and I got back just after 9pm  I know I’m a complete idiot for
not having made the change before I left, I just thought I’d be back in plenty time.
So, I would have stuck my Stable Star on Altior, that’s gotta be 100 pts in the
bank, and I’d have gone for Sugar Baron in the Bet365 Gold Cup which I was hoping
would have been a further 50 points.

Here’s how we look going into the final week, with Ian Tidmarsh (Moet and Pizza
Darlings) still leading the way with Andrew Sutherland (Teaformee) in close in pursuit,
whilst Carl Torr and Graham Black are within about 200 points.

Best of luck tomorrow for all those not quite as brainless as me :good:

I queried this with them before the start of the tournament Nathan and got the
following reply from Mathew Taylor (Director of New Media and Innovation ATR)

    “Hi Graham,

I spoke with the developers and the answer is that under the current code you won’t see the other players in your league until the competition is under way, however, we will try to change that over the next few days provided it’s not too complex – thank you for spotting it and raising it with me. A private leagues table is an idea we’ve toyed with for a while but struggled to come up with a fair formula… I think the fairest might be to go with rankings being based on average score of the top 10 players. If we get chance to do it we will; the prize will be modest though… something like 10 ATR baseball caps!”

I’ll get in touch with him after the end of the competition and ask if they might get that
set up for next year. I think we would have done very well had they had such a leagues competition.
Perhaps now that they have sufficient time to knock the idea about before next year, they might have
something in place. Hopefully there might be some lolly along with those caps, but as I mentioned
a while back I’m intending putting something up for winner and places if I’m running the league next
year. When I mooted that idea, I did put a proviso on that it would be only fair that those entering
at the start of the competition would be included for any prize, although anyone could enter the
competition at any time during it’s running, but they would not be eligible for our own league prize
    (I hope that makes sense).

Good luck this week Nath :good:

Good luck for the end of season bash Graham, Nathan and TRF Team…I have Altior (Star) and Just A Par in the other bonus but don’t think I’m getting off page 2 even if they both come home, but really pleased to have found so many winners.
It’s been a great competition and kept my interest throughout the jumps season and many thanks Graham for keeping us all up to date and in line ;-)
Lets hope ATR make the changes you proposed for next time they run it…Jac X :rose:

Well that’s it all done and dusted for this year, and Ian Tidmarsh (Moet and Pizza Darlings)
has kept his head in front on the run in to finish top of the TRF League. Absolutely brilliant
picks Ian, you deserve your place at the top, and to finish 30th in the competition outright
    is a magnificent effort :good:

It was tight at the top, and the lead changed a few times over the last few months. Well done
Andrew Sutherland (Teaformee), you kept it going right up to the last day which made it all the
more exciting. A superb effort, and ending 45th in the competition outright is another fantastic
    result :good:

Carl Torr (CLT Racing) takes the final place on the podium, with another sterling effort. Carl
you were another who held the top spot for a while, and although you got pegged back by Ian and
Andrew, you kept on their heels and put in another great run :good:

I wish I could give you guys more than my admiration for your efforts, as you know this is a ATR
competition, and they provide the prizes. I think had there been a Leagues competition, TRF would
most certainly been right up there. If you read my comments to Nathan above, I did bring up the
subject of a Leagues competition, within the competition, and although ATR had given this some
thought they didn’t manage to get anything in place for this year. I will bring the subject up
with them shortly, and ask if they might get something in place for next year. Regardless of that,
I think that there has been a great turn out for this competition, and I thank all of those who
took the time and effort to contribute to what has been a really enjoyable league competition.
With that in mind, and as I mentioned some time earlier, I think that regardless of a League V
League competition when the competition gets going again later this year, and if there is the
same interest, then I’ll put something in place for the winner and perhaps the runners up.
Apologies to Ian, Andrew and Carl that all they get this year is my admiration, but I’m sure
you guys will be hammer and tongs at it again next year. If the Big Yin upstairs decides I’ve
got a year or two in me yet, I’ll have that in place for the next competition.

And can I finally thank all who commented during the competition, but particularly my fellow
partners in crime Jac (triptych) and Nathan who in particular kept me company over the last
few months with their take on the competition, and were gentle with me about the few (or many)
howlers I made during it

Here’s how the league finally finished up. Good luck for the flat, and I hope we can do it all
again when the jumps come back around :good:

Have you every thought about a career as a sports commentator Graham B-) , brilliant run down of the competition in general and a really interesting read, thank you for all your hard work. X

Hope you can persuade the powers that be to start a league competition and will be swatting up on the jumps as soon as the flat season comes to an end in October and promise to do better next time, I’d have needed at least another 300 points to even get past Mark Allison and his Spiders From Mars and on second thoughts I think it was the Spiders that kept me in my place..LOL

Finally Congratulations to Ian Tidmarsh and his Moet and Pizza Darlings and second place Andrew Sutherland Teaformee who battled it out for top position..great tipping guys. :good: :good: Jac

Lol, I think before they would turn to me as a sports commentator Jac,
all of them would have had to phone in with a sicky, but thanks for the
    kind endorsement :good:

Considering that the flat is very much your preference, it was no mean feat
to finish 11th. I’m happy enough with 8th, although if I hadn’t been stupid
enough to miss the final transfer, it would have been 7th with my star on
    Altior, but hey-ho,

I’m glad you enjoyed it jac, and I’ll try and get that sorted out with ATR
with regard to the League V League competition. If I get feedback I’ll post
it here. I hope Ian might take a bow on here, he did fantastically well and
it would be good to hear from the new King of the TRF Stable Stars.
Good luck to him anyway :good:

Thanks Bobby, I think it was a good competition and hopefully they might have
a leagues competition set up before next year. I hoped we might have have heard
from Ian and the guys at the top after the finale, I don’t know their TRF nom de
plumes. I hope they enjoyed it and will give it a go when it comes back around later
    on in the year :good:

Just an update to say that I have received a reply form Mathew Taylor at ATR with regard to
the possibility of a League of Leagues competition being included next season ……..

    HI Graham,

Thanks for getting in touch and I’m glad you enjoyed the Stable Stars competition this year. I followed the progress of the TRF mini-league and it was great that you maintained such enthusiasm right through to the end!

We’re at that stage now where we’ll sit back and look at what developments we can roll out for the next season and I’d say a League of Leagues competition will be quite high up my wish-list – provided it’s not a massive technical job I’d expect us to add that functionality for next season.

    Best wishes,

    Matthew

Hopefully it won’t provide too much of a technical headache for ATR, and we should be up and running for
the start of the new competition :good:
