I was going to add this as a post to previous ATR threads but no, I thought it deserved a thread of its own.
Tonight, during coverage of the Belmont Stakes, Steve Millar, supposed expert, announced that Rags To Riches was a sister to BC Classic and Dubai World Cup hero Invasor.
Wrong Mr Millar. She was a "half sister to Jazil, 2006 Belmont Stakes hero.
To make matters worse, Nick Godfrey (self proclaimed Racing Post US expert) failed to correct Millar – either out of pity or (more probably) because he also hasn’t a clue.
ATR are about to lose Ascot. They may well lose their Irish racing contract. They claim to be the home of American racing. And yet they serve up this sort of poorly researched output.
It beggars belief.

Did they not notice the (ARG) next to Invasor’s name?June 9, 2013 at 06:07 #442236I agree. It doesn’t happen just in horse racing but the whole spectrum of the media. Sloppy reporting, lack of getting something right and a certain apathy about doing the correct research leads to blunders every hour of the day. I’ve seen it happen over and over again. Ivanjica ……. it’s called mediocrity!
