A nice idea as it gets away from the talking head syndrome but is it getting too intrusive, especially when ‘in the hands’ of Bob Cooper?
There was a classic instance at Wolverhampton (I think) last week when Bob was chatting to the winning jockey Pat Cosgrave whilst David Evans, the winning trainer, hovered in the background.
When Bob eventually let Cosgrave go and the trainer started to ‘debrief’ him, Cooper was still hovering about trying to hear what the trainer and jock were saying!!
Surprisingly, for him, Evans politley asked him to go away.
There have also been incidents where Bob has gone into the saddling boxes when a horse is being saddled to chat to trainers………….I don’t think that trainers really need that sort of intrusion.
There have been positive uses of it, mostly when Jason Weaver has been the presenter.
The piece about the horses under-going stalls tests was informative and the shots from the pre-parade ring are also useful, in my opinion.
Anyone else feel the same way?

July 8, 2008 at 09:57 #172228Agree. Weaver uses it very well. He did a piece on a buggy all the way up the straight course at Folkestone recently which really showed the undulations very well, he did something similar at Great Leighs. Luke Harvey
is another who uses it well imo. Good addition to the coverage.July 8, 2008 at 17:44 #172321agree with these comments about Jason , he has improved as a broadcaster in leaps and bounds , ….best to remember though this channel has a bias towards betting and bookies , so as long as you think about that you should stay clear of trouble
I have decided not to watch it or any races covered by it , that will keep me out of trouble

cheers
