Always wondered this but why is ATR’s racecourse audio so poor in relation to C4 / RUK.
When a race is on you hardly hear the shouts of the crowd at the course. Watching Leopardstown during champions weekend you would have thought there was no one at the course, same with Doncaster on St Leger Saturday..
Is it to do with the way the feed comes in to SIS from Racetech / ARC courses? Even tho its racetech who feed the pictures to RUK.?
October 12, 2016 at 12:11 #1266783Might be worth emailing ATR directly. I’ve always found them open and helpful.
October 12, 2016 at 13:20 #1266802Time they sorted themselves out HD and soundwise – the quality of the pictures are unacceptable for a company run by Sky.
October 12, 2016 at 16:30 #1266815Are the shouts from the crowd on channel 4 actually from the race we are watching? Sounds like the same cheering every race whatever track. (bar the bigtime meetings)
Some usa tracks have raucous crowd noise at the end of the race, then the camera pans round and the stands are emptier than a cov city home game. Sunland park can sound like the breeders cup sometimes.
October 12, 2016 at 21:32 #1266834The BBC (remember them?) used to have a “soundtrack” of horses galloping which was played in the background during races on loop to provide “atmosphere”. I think Channel 4 add on a similar soundtrack when they are taking the RUK/ATR feed from the “second” meeting.
