I went to Kempton today (me and about 90 others in total!), when I went to park I was told it would be £5.
Out of principle I nearly just drove straight home again, but instead asked if their was free parking anywhere? Was directed to a place about a mile up the road. I then had to walk from here all the way round the course to get to the only entrance open, and in doing so walked past the massive empty car park which was for paying customers.
I don’t know if I’m being tight but totally begrudge paying £5 to park on a Monday afternoon. Its just so short sighted of them, and at their next meeting their will be 89 rather 90 people there!

In fairness, one of the races was in the evening! Kempton would be better off sticking to evening fixtures.

It can’t be much worse than paying a tenner to park in a ploughed field at the Cheltenham Festival. It isn’t ploughed at the start of the day, but by 5.30 it usually is. I agree it is just mean, and short-sighted, but the money culture dictates milking every last penny from us. That can backfire when attendances drop as a result.
August 16, 2011 at 13:17 #368269I would expect them to pay ME at Kempton!
