Interesting Jenkins is backing up just a week after finally getting his head in front, and I’m glad he is as he is making the market as a short 7/2 Fav. Maybe it’s the blinkers that have rejuvenated him and he’s going to show the talent he looked to have last season, but I can’t have him at that price and over half a mile further.

Crossed My Mind is tempting, especially with an ok claimer taking off 7 but not sure he wants the extra distance either.

Le Breuil is the one I’ve come down on.

Good form beating Benatar 9 lengths last season & then LTO beaten 6 lengths trying to give Black Ivory 19Lbs in horrible ground who has since come out and sluiced up in a Pertemps qualifier both point to 139 being a nice workable mark. Will enjoy the Soft-ish ground and although Pauling’s stable is going through a dodgy patch he’s running select runners, which points to them expecting a big run. 7/1 e/w 4 places :good:

Stable form is a massive concern Kev. Im a massive fan of this horse though. I think Pauling had a big season in mind for this fella but in two runs, its not materialized. In my opinion,he raced with the choke out 1st time out and then got bogged down latest. 139 very workable.

Pauling in his sporting life column as stated that some of his horses are under the weather so I would be cautious about this one.

Shame Magic Dancer wasn’t declared – he would’ve been my main fancy from the initial entries. I think that Hunters Call race will be red hot form, loads of winners will come from it. Actually did a bit of cash ante-post too. :(

In his absence, like every other speed figures subscriber, I’ve turned to Oxwich Bay. He clocked some incredible sectionals at Ffos Las (form franked) and looks well ahead of his mark, especially with Mitch Bastyan taking weight off. The value has probably gone now though.

Crossed My Mind stands out too with Jonjo Jnr booked as a rare Arthur Moore runner in England, although his price is more defensive against connections than form-based. You’ve got to go after that screwball Jenkins, who MIGHT have turned a corner last time but didn’t exactly impress with his attitude even in victory and might just recoil a week later in a deeper race. I was trying to talk my self into Night Of Sin, who has a pedigree to improve with time and distance, but does look short enough at the general price. Perhaps he’s just one to look positively upon for the future.

Of those at bigger prices, I didn’t hate Whatmore as a 4 places dart. He is a very keen-going type and looks like one who will be suited by a big-field handicap. His win over the useful Zalvados at Bangor a few runs back was quite a notable effort considering he pulled hard for more than a mile of the race. Henry Daly is in excellent form too. Many Of Plenty had similar appeal given his run in the Hunters Call race but he is a bit of a non-winner and has been found by the snides already.

Le Breuil is an interesting horse in general but looks too short with the yard concerns. I also feel he is more effective in a small field.

Very hard race to call this, and was going to happily sit it out, but at 28’s, with 4 Places up for grabs, then I’ll chance Thorpe. Big step up in class for him, not to mention the rise in the wiehgts, but it’s also a fair old trip south for him, and trainer has had some joy here before making this journey.

Looked to be going the right way, before the wheels came off at Wetherby, but back on track last time, and the odds just seem a bit generous to me.

Have backed WHATMORE each way four holes at 25/1 and NIGHT OF SIN at 14/1.

I am all over this Night Of Sin and have backed it again at 12/1 and again at 10/1 I think it looks a stayer and this race looks set up for a thorough stayer rather than a speed horse.

    Good Luck Guys :good:

    From my blog:

A typical tricky Saturday handicap hurdle with three or four in it who are less than straightforward but very capable on their day.  I’m nominating two: Oxwich Bay, young and improving but something of an idler going by his last run, a trait that sometimes sees you done on the post in races like this.

And I’ll add one at a bigger price who might also have his moods but is too big to miss here given his talent. He’d probably prefer better ground but I’m hoping he’ll handle this and he could be a wee bit of a handicap snip in this first time hood – Whatmore. The yard is in good form.

    Whatmore  25/1   Oxwich Bay  7/1

CROSSED MY MIND 5/1 for me too, and I’ll have a few quid e/w
on VEVAS 25/1 (both prices earlier this morning, 4/1 and 22/1 now)
