Out of season but this is usually about the time I start hopefully throwing out the deadwood from horses highlighted season.
Outside of the Classics one horse stood out for ante-post purposes.
Much has been said about the lack of top class sprinters and the merging of handicap and Group form. I think at the moment the same could be said for the stayers division. For me there is no dominant force. On that basis I would strongly suggest that I Have A Dream is overpriced at 20/1 for the Gold Cup. Very progressive he ended last season with one of the best handicap performances of the year. He should improve again this year and it will be a surprise if he doesn’t prove to be Group class for a stable who do well in these races.
January 22, 2013 at 20:29 #427147Weird they don’t havE I have a Dream on paddypower, I kind of like the look of Aiken (12/1) as I believe he will be progressive and it’s kind of hard to ignore Gulf of Naples at 25/1 after his close 3rd in the 2012 running.

Could be a decent shout. I got the feeling it was like playing bingo backing anything in the big staying races last season. Mount Athos is a contender going the right way but his odds reflect his progress. I expect I Have a Dream to improve and I don’t think it would take much to make him competitive. I think he will stay the distance, which is always a worry for several of the contenders.
Best of luck.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
