“He will be going into the DRF against facile vega, inthepocket and Mister Policeman (maybe, he keeps getting grade 1 hurdles entries) only having had 1 run”
I don’t see it being a problem if he’s good and all class in December. They could fit a Jan race in if they wanted if there is one. He’s just not a heavy ground horse as his frame is not built for it reports trainer. Soft is ok.
November 19, 2023 at 13:34 #1671029“So the gap between him and marine nationale may not be as wide as it looked that day.”
Facile Vega isn’t a champ 2 miler imo they probably just want another crack at MN. A bit like Henderson wanting to do atm with Jonbon against EF. Of course it won’t matter if MN can’t jump. I don’t dislike FV I’ve backed him last 2 Festivals.
November 19, 2023 at 13:39 #1671034He wasn’t massively impressive but the yard isnt going full tilt yet and I’m sure they’ll be better to come
November 24, 2023 at 13:12 #1671571The much vaunted Mister Policeman only scrambled home today. Will need to come on a lot from that if he’s to justify his lofty reputation.
November 24, 2023 at 13:16 #1671573Mister Policeman slower than Facile Vega ;o)
November 24, 2023 at 16:17 #1671580I’ve never seen Mister Policeman before today, watched the replay and I presumed he was the one in the green cap for Ricci. I’d rather back Feu De Bresil for the Arkle than Mister Policeman, looked like a shetland pony next to him.
November 24, 2023 at 18:48 #1671591Mister policeman bet in the bin
Jumping was very poor
November 24, 2023 at 19:12 #1671597I wouldn’t be so hasty, FF. Sure, Mister Policeman wasn’t exactly impressive today, but it’s a long way to the Arkle.
Besides, if all else fails just get Mike to cash out your bet for you.
November 24, 2023 at 21:33 #1671614The risk was always his size glad
And he just didn’t look athletic enough to be a good jumper
I suspect he will be doing a lot of schooling before his next run
November 29, 2023 at 03:46 #1672147WPM suggesting that Gaelic Warrior might drop down to the minimum distance. Wonder what that says about his confidence in Facile Vega?
Doesn’t matter who Willie runs in this, as all his horse will do is give Marine Nationale a nice lead to the last and then get swamped for speed. The only danger to last year’s Supreme hero, assuming that he can jump a fence, is bottomless ground.
November 29, 2023 at 08:49 #1672152Mullins needs to start smoking or something
If Gaelic Warrior is not his future Gold Cup horse he should have left him in the Stayers hurdle division, I’d be thinking Turners for GW this year. FV ran with credit in the Supreme, after his DRF cock up many didn’t expect him to run at all. His chasing debut wasn’t Sprinter Sacre but it was a start and something to build on. If things are not perfect it seems everyone’s future targets need re jiggingCharles Darwin to conquer the World
November 30, 2023 at 01:03 #1672218I do hope they put Inthepocket over a turners trip, but if Gaelic Warrior goes there and continues looking how he did, maybe they’ll stick to the 2miles, i dunno.
But currently, i hope he goes there.
Blood Destiny still hasn’t reappeared yet, 25-1 now + i think he’s halved as WPM was quite positive about him. Lets be honest he’d have to do plenty of talking on the track, however, a win + he’ll probably be a 10-1 shot.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 11, 2023 at 17:48 #1673464Already bet Facile Vega for this but I’ve added Arctic Bresil at 50s split stakes ew and win only. I think he’s very very good and coming from this yard will no doubt be well schooled.
Bet him tomorrow as well, 11-2 is a cracking price.December 14, 2023 at 09:20 #1673703‘Arkle winner’ latest…
Barry Connell is relishing the prospect of the unbeaten Marine Nationale jumping fences as he prepares the spectacular Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner for his chasing debut at Leopardstown on December 27. Marine Nationale was originally pencilled in to make his eagerly awaited chasing debut at Navan on November 18 but Connell decided to postpone proceedings due to heavy ground.
“It’s not an issue as he went from a maiden hurdle to a Grade 1 last season. He has schooled extensively and his jumping is very good. We’ve been happy with his preparation so hopefully everything will go according to plan. We beat the main players in the division last year and there’s no reason why we can’t beat them again. The only reason they could turn it around is if they were a better jumper of a fence but we think our horse is as good, if not better, over a fence than he was over a hurdle. He beat them all in the Supreme so we’re going into the season with confidence.
I’ve never had a horse as good as him or with a temperament like his before. You can have the ability but sometimes the temperament will get in the way but he is a cool dude and never gets frustrated. He’s five from five now and hopefully his career is only getting started. This time next year, hopefully we’re looking forward to a Champion Chase.”December 14, 2023 at 10:20 #1673706I hope they send Inthepocket here and not the Turners
I thought he lost two or three lengths to FV in the straight last time by the route Blackmore took and also hanging a bit to the inside railMN isn’t bred for this so I’d need to see him jump a fence and he could leave his front legs low over hurdles
December 27, 2023 at 12:41 #1675186Can’t argue with that start by the favourite.
December 27, 2023 at 12:42 #1675187There’s no such thing as an absolute certainty, but Marine Nationale is as close as you can get to one for the Arkle.
