I could say the same about Forpady in the Arkle though, always just doing enough, and he has enough ‘2s’ in his form to assume he finds nothing, when in fact he’s an excellent horse who just needs certain conditions. It is possible his injury problem will make him "hurt", but I’m not sure trouncing Osana can be used as evidence of that.
LONG RUN[/color:1f2z67m7], if turning up, would worry them BOTH, imo.
Why are you even talking about Long Run for the Arkle?
Is this some kind of joke?

Bloody hell this is new news! Was only posted at 5!
Surely Nicky is just trying to find alternatives so that Punchestowns has a clean run at the RSA Chase.
Not an out and out stayer he says?!
January 3, 2010 at 19:04 #267431Annoying news I’d always thought Punchestowns had the class to take the Arkle down!

He’s been quite careful to say both are not out and out stayers and that both have real speed, or engines, or whatever we call it, so one of them dropping in trip was always likely?.. with Barbers Shop for the Ryanair, although I then hoped Punches would go for that race, I think I’ll just accept he’s RSA bound now
January 3, 2010 at 20:24 #267452I honestly cant understand how CCB isnt clear favourite for the Arkle. He is bound to improve a ton after only his second start over fences and after his long lay off. Also he has proven Cheltenham form, unlike Sizing Europe. The single biggest reason is the horse’s complete hatred of soft ground. Believe me, this horse will fly once he encounters good ground.
January 3, 2010 at 20:39 #267456Sizing Europe won the Greatwood hurdle at Cheltenham.
Who knows what the ground will be on day one? (I mean really be of course).January 3, 2010 at 21:24 #267474There has been some strange news reports today! I would say there is more chance of Long run getting 31/4m than Punchestowns,i would also say that i think Punchestowns would be better suited to 21/2m than Long run! Long run is as much an Arkle horse as Mikael is a Champion hurdler! No chance!
January 3, 2010 at 21:42 #267477My mistake big bucks. Festival form so! The ground at Cheltenham will surely be a lot quicker than what he has been racing over in Ireland though.

Some of us have been predicting this since last summer, and are well on for the Arkle.
January 3, 2010 at 21:55 #267485No probs shaun just defending him again.
haven’t backed anything yet but wouldn’t be too sure about the ground, could be goodish but the old watering can and the british weather makes that 50/50 (or worse) at best
Anyone for Captain Cee Bee on muddy-soft?
What price do you have LR at HWTH? Sounds like a plan coming together for you
January 3, 2010 at 21:58 #267486Ive got him at 14s for the RSA….think you meant to ask Grasshopper though?
January 3, 2010 at 22:04 #267489BB, I originally backed Long Run at between 100 – 140 during the summer. I then topped up again at odds up to 400, just after he won the Feltham.
I’ve got a total of £19 running for me, at an average of just under 170. The money matched at 270 and 400 are two of my bets.
January 3, 2010 at 22:15 #267493Apologies, thanks and wowzers good luck!!
January 4, 2010 at 15:22 #267611News on Cee Bee:

Going to bypass Irish Arkle in favour of a novice chase at Naas on Feb 6.
January 4, 2010 at 23:38 #267739I cant see further than the captain for this race. I remember the interview that Harty gave immediately after the supreme novices in 2007. though clearly happy with the win he was at pains to point out that given better ground the horse would be seen in a much better light.the horses form is there for everyone to see and if we do get goodish ground in march then I think we will see an exceptional performance. 6 to 1 with paddy powers is strongly advised and we wont see him run again till the festival.
January 5, 2010 at 00:05 #267747He runs again on Feb 6th.
If it’s soft ground how will the 6/1 look?
January 5, 2010 at 00:40 #267748Wont look too bad considering he probably would have beaten the current fav on that ground last time, and should be expected to come on leaps and bounds for the run.
